Quality programmes update for practices - August 2022 Kia ora koutou, Thank you for all the hard mahi you’ve been doing around the country. We know it’s been a difficult time, and it’s great to see practices achieving Foundation Standard certification and Cornerstone accreditation.

Training list – Foundation Standard We're often asked about training requirements in the Foundation Standard as certain indicators require completed training records as evidence. We encourage practices to identify which training best fits the scope of their individual practice. Train the trainer is also acceptable in some instances.

To make things easier we have a full list of training requirements on our website, in order of indicator.

Booking an assessor

Once you’ve completed your assessment in Smartsheet, visit our assessor directory where you will find assessor names, contact details, home region, regions they travel to, and a personal statement.

You can filter by a variety of options and read about each individual before contacting someone of your choice.

Remember that the Equity and CQI modules don’t require site visits, so you can contact assessors across the country.

New building checklist We often receive queries about the new building quality checklist, so, here’s a reminder about what it is, and how it all works.

If a practice has recently moved buildings or has undertaken extensive renovations of their current building, but made no changes to their policies and procedures, they don’t need to re-do their entire Foundation Standard, rather just be assessed on a selection of relevant criteria.

Foundation Standard building checks must be completed by an endorsed Foundation Standard assessor, you can find them in the assessor directory. The assessor will then send the completed checklist to the College. The Foundation Standard expiration will remain unchanged. Foundation Standard update to indicator 13.2 A change has been made to the required evidence for criteria 13.2 – ‘the practice complies with the Hazardous Substances Regulations 2017.'

The first two bullet points have been merged into one requirement. We no longer ask for both an inventory and a register of hazardous substances at the workplace. Instead, the new requirement reads: ‘An inventory of hazardous substances in your workplace, including substance type, quantity and location and associated data safety sheets.'

All Foundation Standard version 2 and re-certification assessment sheets are currently being updated, and our website has been updated to reflect this change.

Smartsheet tip We recommend that you save a copy of each assessment for your records once completed.

You can do this by clicking 'File' > 'Export' > and then choose the format you want to save it as. We recommend either Microsoft Excel or PDF.
