Agenda:

PHO CE Update – Lindsey (via zoom)

• PHO Provider Inc. Pete Chandler (former DHB chief executive) elected to the board.

• Thank-you to those that offered support to our Hawkes Bay Healthcare colleagues. We are looking at scoping out a more formalised ‘fundraiser’ to help them also.

• Health reform update- Locality development has been made; this involves the establishment of boundaries. This follows extensive consultation with local authority/community groups/iwi groups. The timeline for this is set for April-May.

• Thank-you to our PM’s for allowing your equity champions and teams to be released for our ‘Cultural Haerenga’ on the 5th of April.

Practice Manager Items:

Signatures on Enrolment Forms – (Glenn Dunkerley, Papamoa Pines)

Glenn discussed moving to electronic enrolment system, the electronic signature on the form is proving to be problematic as often the signature looks different to the original ‘hard copy’ one when requesting notes to transferred out. Glenn wanted to establish a process for this amongst the group and hear from other practices about how they approach this Action; to look into this further with MOH

PM Meeting Format – Zoom (Lorraine Anderson, Gate Pa)

Lorraine wanted the group to discuss the decision that we alternate our PM meetings from F2F and Zoom. She doesn’t agree that there is as much value in Zoom sessions and would prefer all included an in-person element. There was discussion around the room. The original reason for this was based on a survey of the group preference. A specific survey will be circulated on this to ensure it encompasses all opinions. Please click here to feedback on the format of the sessions going forward.

Network Services Updates

Vensa Utilisation – Phil Back Usage is variable across the region. Unable to get good visibility on what ‘miscellaneous’ texting is, this accounts for 33% across the providers. Discussion around whether texting patient appointment details is considered ‘clinical’. Phil will seek further information from Vensa on breakdown of data, and will share with practices for their review.

Cervical Screening Training Courses 2023 – Emma Skellern

Currently, here in the Bay of Plenty there are no providers that will deliver Cervical Screening training (smear takers). Historically we have facilitated this training through Family Planning and WONS (Well Women Family Trust). We have recently be informed that Family planning and WONS will not be providing any additional courses until after the changes to primary HPV testing has happened (July 2023). They envisage their course content will need to be edited to reflect the new testing method, follow-up, recall and treatment pathways. Nurses in the meantime can enrol for advertised courses via Family Planning or Wintec websites.
