NZNO 2022 Membership fees At NZNO's 2004 Annual General Meeting members agreed NZNO could increase fees annually in line with the consumer price index (CPI). This has proved an effective way to keep fees as low as possible without reducing core services, address rising costs of delivering core services to members and prevent significant increases once every few years. On October 12, 2021, the NZNO Board of Directors considered options for membership fee increases presented by the Acting Chief Executive. The Board chose to approve an increase of 2.3 percent across all member fee categories. This is in accordance with the NZNO Constitution (Schedule two: Subscriptions and levies clause 1.2) which limits fee increases to be no more than the CPI. In dollar terms, these increases for full fee categories will range from $7.82 to $13.20 per year. In deciding this, the Board noted: NZNO’s ongoing cost pressures; the budgeted deficits of prior years; the major programme of technology work; and the impending challenges of the new health sector structures. The Board acknowledged the costs incurred by internationally qualified nurses coming to work in Aotearoa New Zealand and the ongoing shortage of nurses. It asked the NZNO management team to find further ways to increase membership numbers. Fee increases are effective from 1 April 2022. At their meeting on 17 February 2016 the Board of Directors approved that from 1 April 2016 students in their first year of study in the Bachelor of Nursing or Enrolled Nurse programmes are eligible for free NZNO membership. Students in their second and third year of study in these programmes pay the usual student membership fee.Internationally qualified nurses or NZ trained RNs undertaking CAP (competency assessment programme/return to nursing) are NOT eligible for the first year of study free membership. NZNO is both a professional organisation and a registered union committed to providing 'best practice' member support to you in all areas of operations. There is no other nurses' organisation like it. One modest membership fee gives you access to all the functions of a registered union AND of a professional association, including first rate legal and indemnity insurance protection. If your NZNO membership subscription is deducted by your employer, you don't need to do anything. If you pay your NZNO membership subscription by automatic payment or online payments, please change your payments to the new rate so as to take effect in April 2022.
