Standardised concussion assessment tool - Brain Injury Screening Tool (BIST) – designed for primary care, integrated in the PMS, quick and simple to complete (~6 mins). This will save clinicians time as well as streamlining the process for assessment, management, and tracking recovery of concussion patients. New codes will be available for both 15 and 30-minute follow-up appointments which will be fully funded by ACC so there will be no co-payment for patients. Training, clinical triage and peer group support available for GPs. Updated evidence-based concussion recovery education to support patients in their recovery – available in English and Te Reo. A great opportunity to collaborate with ACC on a new pathway – as a pilot they are interested in all feedback and iteration as needed. Better concussion outcomes – through optimal assessment (BIST) and management in primary care and the flow-on effect of reduced wait times for concussion services for those that need it.
