Imagine, Believe, Achieve/Moemoea, Kimihia, Taea (IBA) Programme - 2022 What: The IBA Program supports the transition of disengaged youth into an alternative learning environment and then, confidently into the workplace or continued education or training. It aims to prevent longer-term disengagement, e.g., into unemployment or future interaction with social support agencies. More widely, it supports local employment needs and provides encouragement and support to employers so that they can work well with youth who have had little work experience before and to support a better understanding of at-risk youth for the wider benefit to the community. When: Start date: 16 January 2023 – 30 March 2023 (11 weeks) Monday - Thursday 9:00 -2.30pm, 135, 13th Avenue. Who: 15-24 years not currently in employment, school, training or disengaging at school. Rangatahi who are doing well in IBA, are coming to us with a desire to get themselves on a pathway toward sustainable employment and are looking for positive support systems, stability, work and life skills and employer connections, to help them get there. Increasing our rangatahi’s levels of resilience and confidence and supporting their sense of connection and belonging is also a common area of need for our young people. How: For interested youth, we need a referral form filled out (see attached) otherwise we are happy for you to bring them down for a meet and greet. Please email referrals to accounts@bopydt.org.nz .
