Tēnā koutou, This communication is to notify you of support that is underway to encourage parents to help keep their children healthy through vaccination. Who we are targeting 1. Children recently admitted to hospital with respiratory issues, who have not had the flu vaccination this year. 2. Children aged 5 – 14 years who have not had their second MMR dose or are requiring catch-up MMR due to schedule change. 3. Overdue MMR and Childhood Immunisations 12m, 15m & 4yr schedule in collaboration with WBOPPHO Outreach programme. We will be focusing on contacting clients in the Tauranga area to begin with as there are a few accessible services available to them, including Rangiora Tauranga Moana Health Hub, and outreach options such as home visits. Why we are doing this With the launch of Rangiora Tauranga Moana Health Hub, there is now an alternative service offering for people with different health access needs than those who regularly visit GP clinics. It is here to complement the services of GPs, by offering a walk-in space for people who are unable to commit to an appointment time, or do not have an existing GP relationship and don’t want to begin one. This is also complemented by our outreach service that includes home visits. We are focusing our calling campaigns for groups 1 & 2 within the locality surrounding Rangiora Tauranga Moana Health Hub to encourage those with different health access needs to continue caring for themselves by using an alternate service option. No change to processing overdue immunisations Although there is now a new support service for immunisations through Rangiora Tauranga Moana Health Hub, there is no change to the referral process for overdue immunisations. While Rangiora Tauranga Moana Health Hub is now an option you can offer clients who may not be able to attend GP clinics, your referrals for outreach services still need to pass through the physical Childhood Outreach programme that are actioned on the NIR. How GPs can work with Rangiora GPs are welcome to advise of Rangiora Tauranga Moana Health Hub as an option if the client wants a walkin service or needs to access immunisation appointments outside of standard GP opening hours. However, please be mindful as previously mentioned to refer those overdue immunisations as usual through the correct Outreach referral process. Rangiora Tauranga Moana Health Hub offers immunisations seven days a week, with opening hours on Monday to Friday 10.30am to 6.00pm, and Saturday to Sunday 9.00am to 5.30pm. No appointments are required, and it is open most public holidays, too.
