Dr Rona Carroll & Einstein Hale MEd This CME educational session will provide attendees with up-to-date knowledge around trans-affirming care in primary practice.

CME Education Session – via Zoom only

Dr Rona Carroll (she/her) is a GP working in youth health and a senior lecturer in the Department of Primary Health Care and General Practice at the University of Otago Wellington. Rona has a special interest in transgender healthcare, particularly in providing gender affirming hormone therapy in primary care settings. As well as clinical, teaching and research work in this area, she is the Vice President of PATHA (Professional Association for Transgender Health Aotearoa) and a founding member of Pride in Health. Einstein Hale MEd (they/them) has a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Education. They have more than 10 years of experience working in acute psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse services, outpatient group programs, educational programming, hospice caregiving, and mental health private practice. They have lectured on LGBTQI+ mental health care, culture, and sensitives for various Universities and agencies, including Yale School of Psychiatry. Einstein is a current member of PATHA [Professional Association of Transgender Health Aotearoa] and a member of the NZAC [New Zealand Association of Counsellors].

Understanding the current gender-affirming care pathways in the BOP 3. Managing maintenance prescribing of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) in primary care

The CME/CNE activity has been endorsed by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) and has been approved for up to 1.5 CME credits for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) purposes.

CME attendance: THE WBOP PHO education team will only issue certificates and register attendee details on the RNZCGP CME register for those who attend events in person. Those who attend via Zoom or watch a recorded version of the event at a later date are able to claim CME points by entering the event as an ‘individually planned learning activity’ and completing a self-reflective activity via the RNCGP dashboard
