EOI – Hands Up for Primary Care Taking the Pressure off Primary Care To interested primary care health professionals Primary Health Organisations are testing the concept of creating a database of available primary care practitioners who can be called upon at short notice to provide supplementary hours (either face-to-face or virtual) to support existing primary care services. These supplementary hours are most likely to be needed to support seasonal pressures for 2022 and 2023. As a first step we are wanting to ascertain whether there is an available workforce to support this service. What skills do we need? • • • •
General Practitioners Practice Nurses Practice Administrators Nurse Practitioner
•
We’re interested in expressions of interest from primary care health workers who are not currently in full-time roles and may have some spare capacity - and who would be willing to make themselves available a few extra hours a week for part-time and/or casual primary care practice roles. The intention with this initiative is to create extra capacity for Primary Care, not to take staff from one practice to address the needs of another, nor add to risks of burn out.
•
For clinical roles - at least one year of post-grad experience is preferred, although in some circumstances students may be able to apply.
•
It is envisaged that opportunities for locum roles will commence at the end of winter 2022 and continue over into the 2023 seasonal periods as well. It is hoped that strong networks between available locums and welcoming practices emerge, forging working partnerships around availability and team relationships.
The Role: • • • •
Are you working part-time and could give a few extra hours? Are you recently retired or wanting to return to your clinical practise? Are you looking for an opportunity to develop additional skills and work experience? Are you available for virtual or face-to-face roles – or both?
