Referral Criteria for Support to Cervical Screening Services
In response to several inquiries re: the above, the following Eligibility and entry and exit criteria is provided for your reference.
Eligibility, entry criteria and exit criteria
Services are provided to any eligible patient (from the priority group below) who is referred to, or independently accesses, Support to Cervical Screening Services from the Provider. Patients will be invited to enrol with the NCSP in accordance with screening standards.
For Cervical screening, Priority Group participants include:
a. Women (and any people with cervix) aged 25 – 69 years who are:
● Māori
● Pasifika
● Asian and
b. Other women (and any people with cervix) aged between 30 – 69 year who:
● Have never had cervical screening (i.e., eligible for screening but unscreened)
● Have not had cervical screening in the previous five years (i.e., who are under screened).
Priority Group patients are also eligible for support to screening and colposcopy services, however the NCSP prioritises cervical screening support services to those who are unscreened and under screened.
The WBOP PHO Support to Screening team reviews all referrals against this criteria and will therefore decline those that do not meet this threshold.
The Network Services team is available to support practices that identify development needs in this area, including staff training, population profile data and can link practices to clinical services to support staffing of screening clinics where there is a push to increase uptake for priority communities.

Referral to this service is a Midland eReferral accessed through Best Practice to the “WBOPPHO Nursing Service”.
