Assoc. Prof. John Litt, AM. MBBS, MSC, DRACOG, FRACGP, FAFPHM, PhD

Assoc. Prof. John Litt is a retired academic GP and public health physician in the Discipline of General Practice at Flinders University. John was the Deputy Chairman of the RACGP National Quality Committee (2000-2018), was one of the inaugural directors of the ISG and is a current member of the IC Scientific Advisory Board. John’s major clinical and research interests are in prevention and its implementation. He has over 130 publications. John conducted the first Australian National Influenza and Pneumococcal Survey in older adults in 1998 and the first Australian Zoster attitudes and beliefs survey in older persons and GPs in 2009. In 2019, John was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to preventative medicine as an influenza specialist.

Maree McKenna & Paige Drummond Registered Nurses

Maree graduated as a registered nurse in 1983 and has been a practice nurse in Masterton for 32 years. For the past 10 years she has been the Flu Vaccination Coordinator at Masterton Medical which has involved setting up a number of off-site flu clinics in schools, kindergartens, early childhood centres, aged care, rural farming communities and corporate settings.

Paige graduated in 2017 as a registered nurse, starting her nursing journey in the Primary Health Sector as a practice nurse working in Wairarapa. She has been a practice nurse at Masterton Medical for the past 2 years and has joined Maree in becoming a Flu Vaccination Coordinator, running on-site flu clinics and a number of off-site outreach flu clinics.

Ben Harris Medical Microbiology Scientist

Ben has been a Medical Microbiology Scientist for over 40 years and is based in Christchurch, He is an honorary lecturer for University of Otago.

He has had an extensive career in the Medical Microbiology field and gives many presentations nationally and internationally to a range of health care professional groups. His primary focus, fascination and passion is in Medical Microbiology including Infection Prevention and Control education - helping prevent (eg. vaccinations, transmission cessation approaches), and when too late, managing outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics.
