Te Whatu Ora will present a webinar update on Monkeypox and COVID-19 to primary care clinicians on Wednesday evening, August 31, from 7.30pm to 8:45pm. The update will cover a range of topics, including Monkeypox - case definition, testing, vaccination, treatment, and new Monkeypox pathway, the wider COVID-19 response - persistent infection, rebound, isolation requirements, international travellers and vaccinations, and Care in the Community - COVID-19 transition to business as usual, funding, COVID-19 medicines including Evusheld and long COVID-19. Monkeypox (MPX) •
The MPX section of the Communicable Disease Control Manual has been updated further, with key changes including revised contact definitions and guidance on contact management. The latest information on MPX is available from your local HealthPathways site and is also updated regularly
Technology •
The next COVID-19 Clinical Care Module release was scheduled for Thursday August 25 and included some minor impact system improvements and improvements and a fix for the invalid overwrite known issue affecting the Initial Assessment (where two Initial Assessments are completed on the same day). An NCTS update was due on Wednesday August 24 focusing on measles plus some minor impact system improvements. The next Regional Sessions hosted by the Data and Digital team will start from August 23 and will focus on this week’s updates. COVID-19 Response •

A new campaign to support those who are unable to wear masks is running through Unite Against COVID-19 social media channels and also on digital screens in retail and medical settings through Giggle TV and Health TV. Posters and flyers are available for download through the UAC Resource Toolkit. Updated information for health professionals about visitors to New Zealand who require treatment for COVID-19 has been published on Manatū Hauora’s website.

Please follow this link to the Pharmac notification regarding access criteria for tixagevimab with cilgavimab (Evusheld) for the pre-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19. Also included in this notification is access criteria for persistent SARS-CoV-2 infection.
