Care Plus Summary of Changes
Key Purpose/Benefit To enable more flexible application of the Care Plus programme funding the allocation process has been reviewed. Rather then a Care Plus place being fixed as one registration session and three reviews, the patient can now be seen up to 8 times a year. This comprises the initial registration assessment visit and up to 7 subsequent reviews. This enables clinicians more flexibility to allocate additional reviews to more complex cases, or a shorter set of sessions (ie. 1 registration session and 1 review) for a shorter episode of care. This new system can also enable greater administrative efficiency. That is, if a clinician or administrator notices that allocated reviews are not being used, there is the ability to recredit them to the total available number of reviews allocated to the practice of clinically appropriate. The Thalamus Care Plus report and the Halcyon Care Plus Status Report are useful tools to view and address utilisation. It is worth noting that while this new allocation system allows for greater flexibility, practices can still choose to apply the standard 4 session model if this works best. The Halcyon registration form defaults to 3 reviews.
