30 March 2022 Tēnā koe Request for tautoko of Super Tamariki in Te Moana-ā-Toi event Thank you for your support of the COVID-19 vaccination kaupapa (programme) and your work with our hapori (communities) and tamariki (children) to increase our collective protection against the virus. We know the COVID-19 vaccine rollout for kura-aged (school-aged) tamariki has been difficult to navigate, and we are grateful for the kōrero (conversations) you’ve had with parents and families, and the safe spaces you provide for rangatahi (young people). The role our kura, schools, and sports and activities clubs play in our communities cannot be underestimated. You are enduring and trusted connections with whānau throughout the Bay. This weekend our rohe (region) will host a series of Super Tamariki events across Katikati, Tauranga Moana, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Ōpōtiki and Kawerau. This mahi is being brought together by our Kaupapa Māori hauora and vaccine providers, Māori organisations, iwi and hapū, with the support of the Bay of Plenty District Health Board. The events will be fun, stress-free environments where all children and families in the Bay of Plenty are welcome. Parents are encouraged to come along even just to share kai, kōrero, and ask pātai (questions). When ready, mātua (parents) can take the next step and immunise their tamariki aged five and older against COVID-19. First, second and booster doses are available for whānau too. This is where I ask for your tautoko (support) of the event nearest your hapori (community). We have advertising in place throughout the rohe, but your referral of the event to whānau and tamariki would be invaluable. We can provide you with social media graphics, flyers for children to take home to parents, copy for your school newsletter, or whatever you feel will engage your school community. Please find the full event details on the back of this letter, or view further information at this link: bopdhb.health.nz/super-tamariki-day Whatever support you can provide, we would be most grateful for.
