Clinical update ASTRAZENECA COVID-19 VACCINE From Friday, 26 November, people can book an appointment to receive the COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine. Appointments are available from Monday, 29 November, for people aged 18 and older who either want a different COVID-19 vaccine or cannot receive the Pfizer vaccine. Bookings and locations Appointments can be made at www.BookMyVaccine.nz or by calling the COVID-19 Vaccination Healthline on 0800 28 29 26 from 8 am–8 pm, seven days a week. Translation services are available. In the Bay of Plenty district, the AstraZeneca COVID-19 will be administered via booked appointments only at: • Tauranga central COVID-19 vaccination centre, 87 First Avenue • Whakatāne COVID-19 vaccination centre, 11 Quay Street AstraZeneca and other COVID-19 vaccines People who have already received one or more doses of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine must have a prescription from a doctor to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine for any of their following COVID-19 vaccine doses – regardless of whether they wish to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine for their second, third primary or booster dose/s. People who have not received any COVID-19 vaccine can book the AstraZeneca vaccine without a prescription, using the booking processes outlined above. About AstraZeneca AstraZeneca is a two-dose viral vector COVID-19 vaccine, with a four- to 12-week gap required between doses one and two. All of our vaccination centres continue to offer the full protection of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine, which can be accessed using the booking processes outlined above, or as walk-in appointments. People can continue to find their nearest vaccination centre on Healthpoint.
