Lots of rapid action going on at the MoH about COVID care going froward. Currently the issue is still sitting with MOH as they are still keen that they keep COVID out of the community and they are currently confident in the systems at the MIQs and the clinical care that is provided there is sufficient. But the concern is that the time will come when they will not have enough workforce and primary care will have to pivot quickly into that role. There has been a project stood up to create a model, plan, commissioning, funding etc. around supporting COVID in the community. The project group will be consulting with key stake holders. Justine (A GP working at the MOH) will keep the group informed. Health pathways community across the country is engaged with this. Cross national work to update the COVID management pathway so it will give us clear guidance as GPs managing someone with COVID in our care. Largely based on Dee Mangin’s model. Canterbury, Auckland, and Northland are working on it. Will be the same across the country but will need to work on how to integrate with local models of care, public health units etc. Need to have flexibility with people working on parallel plans for local responses to avoid miscommunications and duplicates. Relationship with Public Health Units locally is key.
