Acute Demand Service Update –

Background:

Radiology Process Change

We are preparing for the remaining Acute Demand services to shift into Halcyon over the next year. The remaining referral/claim pathways still to be transitioned are:

➢ Adult Pneumonia Follow-up

➢ Emergency Department Redirected Patients

➢ St John Ambulance redirected Patients.

➢ DVT Ultrasound &

➢ The Acute Demand Radiology suite

Most of these forms will be straight forward and will not require additional changes by you as the referrer before the form goes live.

However, there are a few amendments to our radiology suite that are required to facilitate us moving them info Halcyon. These amendments will affect your process at Practice level.

Radiology Process Changes:

The first (and most likely, welcome) change to advise practices of is that:

➢ Providers are no longer required to complete the Best Practice Form “Outcomes” for any radiology referrals.

This has been time consuming in the past but was historically necessary to ensure accurate payments. The Acute Demand Service can now complete ‘outcomes’ directly when a copy of the radiology report is received. This will save referrers valuable time and will ensure radiology providers are paid in a timely manner.

There are 2 claiming aspects of the new Radiology process that will affect practices:

1. Claim numbers are no longer relevant to practice claiming (these will still be allocated to referrals - but only relevant to Radiology providers)

2. The administrative fee paid for quick response, will no longer be funded (as the response “Outcome” will now be input directly by the PHO ADS coordinator)

Please Note:

➢ Any Follow-up consults that occur within 48 hours, will continue to be funded where the resulting (reported) diagnosis is acute and requires a patient follow up appointment for further management.

Please continue to send manual invoices for radiology follow-up consultations; via PracticeClaims@wboppho.org.nz and ensure that “Acute Demand” is in the Subject line.

Invoices must include

➢ “ADS Radiology Follow-up”

➢ Date of consultation and

➢ NHI
