Acute Demand Services Xmas Hours

Dear Practice Managers, Our Acute Demand Services will be closed from 3pm 23 December 2022 (Christmas Eve) and reopening Wednesday, 4 January 2023.

Arrangements have been made to enable the above services to take a well-deserved break between Christmas and New Year. The following processes will need to be followed: Skin Lesion Services: The final referral triage 2022 will be undertaken on the 21st of December. Approved referrals will be passed on to our GPSI network as appropriate, and it is expected that service provision will occur within normal timeframes (8 weeks).

Breast Imaging and Bone Density Services: Referrals received up until mid-morning on 23 December 2022 will be managed as per normal processes. Any referrals received after this time will be reviewed and managed on reopening of this service on 4 January 2023.

Radiology Continue to refer via Best Practice where clinically indicated as acute.

Arrangements have been made with our community Radiology providers (see below) to receive booking requests directly from our Practices. Please also print the Best Practice referral (before submitting) and give to the patient to take to the booked appointment.

The following radiology providers offer both; X-ray and Ultrasound services and will operate at a reduced service between Christmas and New Year - returning to full capacity Monday 9th Jan. All Community providers will be closed on public holidays: Radiology Provider

Additionally, please note the following advice from our Radiology providers in respect to managing patients with respiratory condition symptoms:

“At all alert levels, it continues to be our position that anyone who has respiratory symptoms will need a negative Covid test prior to entering Bay

Radiology premises. We continue to provide services at a reduced capacity for all patients who are well, however this by appointment only as this allows us to actively manage the number of people in our facilities.”

Acute Demand Services: Cellulitis, Hydration & DVT Management can continue to be claimed via Halcyon at any time.

DVT Ultrasound – Delayed Ultrasounds: Where a same day ultrasound cannot be obtained. Delayed DVT Ultrasound Management is funded through Halcyon.

Note: •

Referrals Mon-Thurs after 3.30pm are unlikely to be undertaken until the next day.

• Referrals Fri after 3.30pm are unlikely to be undertaken until the next working day (5 days over New Year long weekend).

Please advise in the DVT USS referral (clinical notes) if anticoagulation has started.
