Latest alert level announcement The Government confirmed today that all New Zealand south of the Auckland boundary will move to Alert Level 3 from 11.59pm on Tuesday 31 August 2021. This will remain in place for one week. Cabinet will review this decision again on Monday 6 September 2021. Northland is expected to remain at Alert Level 4 until 11.59pm Thursday 2 September 2021. Cabinet will confirm this later this week after reviewing the latest testing and wastewater results from the Auckland/Northland boundary. Auckland will remain at Alert Level 4 for a further two weeks. Cabinet will meet on Monday 13 September 2021 to review these settings.
New community cases announced There are 53 new cases of COVID-19 in the New Zealand community to confirm today. All 53 cases are in Auckland. This brings the total number of active cases in the community outbreak to 562. The total number of community cases in Auckland is now 547 and 15 in Wellington. All the cases have or are being transferred safely to a quarantine facility, under strict infection prevention and control procedures, including the use of full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Grants available for community youth mental wellbeing initiatives The Ministry has launched a $1 million fund for grassroots initiatives that are supporting the mental wellbeing of youth through the impacts of COVID-19.
