Insulin Initiation in Primary Care This CNE workshop will provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to support “Insulin Starts” Facilitated by: Fleur Brett DNE and Anne Waterman CNS, Health and Wellness Diabetes Team
To be held on Thursday the 22nd of September 8.30 am- 3.30 pm Kawakawa Room, Clinical Education Centre, Gate 9, 889 Cameron Road Tauranga: Spaces are Limited
Following the presentation participants will know: •
How to overcome common barriers which prevent timely insulin initiation
•
Understand the impact on Māori health and the potential for reducing inequities
•
Be familiar with new insulin guidelines- NZSSD 2021
•
To individualise patient targets and know how to limit unnecessary weight gain
•
Gain confidence in the practical use of insulin pen devices
Please note: Prior to this workshop you must have completed all modules on the NZSSD Online Health Learning platform APART FROM: •
Hyperglycaemia and identification and treatment during concurrent illness
•
Steroid Induced Hyperglycaemia
•
Bariatric Surgery
•
Children and Youth
This will take approx 8 hours to complete, certification included & replaces the Fundamentals course. NZSSD Online Health Learning Platform Link
