Career Lab
After a hard year without working, stuck at home because of this pandemic, I started the Virtual Career Lab, and it gave me the strength to start over again. Listening to Yvonne talking about our common situation as WBG spouses, to see all of the other fellows, feeling that I am not unique and alone, has been crucial for me. Our second session, What story do I tell myself?, pushed me to get out of my comfort zone giving me the strength to contact my former boss and colleagues. The day after they called me back proposing a short-term job.

Volunteer Engagement Team
As a WBFN volunteer and part of the VET team, I did not know what this meant to me and the impact it would have for me as an individual until COVID 19 broke out. For me the WBFN volunteers’ team is always a home away from home more so a way to re-energize and reconnect in various ways.

BP volunteers with WBG staff, Akosua Ofori, Sponsor of the shipment to Ghana
I wholeheartedly want to thank all of you, especially Aggie and Laura, for your efforts to serve humanity. What you all are doing is amazing and it's promoting global development and adding value to children in distant land that you don't even have the privilege of meeting. What an amazing and selfless thing to do. Thanks again and God bless you all.

Quote from one of our sponsors shipments
• There were no events organized this year due to the pandemic
• Shipments—40’ shipment (30,000 books) to Ghana reached Accra Port in mid-March last year, just in time for Ghana’s lockdown.
• 40’ container, (30,000 books) to Sierra Leone was a major event as it took one- and-a-half years from the time the shipment reached the port in May 2019 to the time the children received the books in Oct 2020.
Our commitment
• Supporting sustainable environmental recycling through new NGOs
• Continuing emphasis on literacy opportunity for girls as well as boys
• Supporting Shipment Sponsors facing challenges in their recipient countries
“I didn’t have money to execute the research on the ground. I wanted to do something for women’s mental health, and I found Margaret McNamara Education Grants. I got motivation, encouragement and I always see MMEG as a ray of hope in my life, because it has given me those wings to fly.”
