WBFL SENIOR GRADE GRAND FINAL BEST ON GROUND MEDAL It is with much pleasure that the WBFL Board of Management advises the medal awarded to the player adjudged best on ground in future Western Border FL senior grade grand finals will be named in honour of South Gambier FC legend Michael ‘Mick’ Ryan. Ryan is the League games played record holder with 391 senior games. He also played his 400th club game with SGFC earlier this year. A number of candidates were considered for this honour, but no person is more synonymous with WBFL Grand Final Day than Mick Ryan. Mick has collected 10 WBFL premiership medallions with his beloved Demons, including one as playing coach in 2005. In addition to the achievement of WBFL games played record holder, Ryan was the Western Border Medallist in 1996, and has also collected four club Best and Fairest trophies.
