TONIGHT - CLASSIC SERVICE AT 6:00 PM –
in the Community Room. Ken Dye will be leading the Devotional. Communion will be offered for all those who were unable to partake on Sunday morning. Tom Seals’ class will meet tonight in the Conference Room from 6:00 – 7:00 TONIGHT. The class is studying “Genesis: Revelation Of Grace”. The Biblical message of Genesis is that God is actively seeking to draw Humanity to Himself. Come and join us on Sunday evenings and see Divine Grace working to overcome human rebellion with it attendant alienation, suffering, and death. Anyone interested in attending is welcome!

Study Habits Part 2, “God-breathed” 2 Timothy 3:10-17 We continue our series this morning, Study Habits. Last Sunday we introduced three values driven by Personal Bible Study: 1. Show Love 2. Strengthen Faith 3. Distinguish False Teachings Particularly, the strengthening of Faith is central to how anyone receives the validity or value of God’s inspired Word. The man without the Spirit
does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14) This morning we will take a deeper dive into the validity of scripture and the assurance we should take that it is “God-breathed.”
Theopneustos is the Greek word found in 2 Timothy 3 that is translated to mean: God-breathed, inspired by God or due to the inspiration of God. Although 2 Timothy 3:16 may be the only place in the Bible where the phrase “God-breathed” is used to describe the Word of God, Scripture is riddled with similar claims. As you sit down for your own personal bible study this week, here are some additional scriptures of interest:

Keep Them in Your Prayers We express our sympathy to Bobo & Leslie Sitton and their family in the passing of Leslie’s grandmother, Audrey Kathleen Ledbetter. Her funeral was Friday in Jackson, TN. Due to the privacy act it is sometimes difficult to get information regarding our members that are in the hospital, so if you have information regarding anyone on our sick list, please let the office know.

Joy Cox is recovering from knee replacement surgery and a broken femur on the same leg. She is currently at Richland Place Health Ctr. for rehab, room 228. Former member and brother-in-law of Rudie Smith, Vic Batson, is recovering from hip replacement surgery at home in Florence, Alabama. Lynn Doramus, Libby Massie’s daughter, is receiving treatment for cancer. Please continue praying for Bryan Britt, who is married to Barbara Craig’s niece, Jenna. His address is 8 Hunters Creek Drive Jackson, TN 38305. Buddy McKenzie, Amanda McKenzie’s father-in-law, is recovering from 2 surgeries. He had lung cancer surgery and also surgery to remove a kidney (stage 3 cancer). He and his wife live in Trenton, GA. Jane-Elise Thomas requests prayers for the Compton family. Their teenaged son, Wyatt, has been severely affected by meningitis and has been dealing with its ravages for years. The family requests prayers for peace and for acceptance of the future. They wish for Wyatt to be pain free and comfortable for his last few months. Lila Duncan, 2 year old niece of Clay & Lauren McCluggage, is having chemo every 3 weeks during the Summer. Sarah Garrett requests prayers for Talan Barnhill-Williams the 8 yrs. old son of Ashley Barnhill who is a friend of Sarah. Talan has Ewing’s Sarcoma and is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Melina Robinson, sister of Amy Thurman, is having vision problems and will see a retina specialist. Please keep her in your prayers. LADIES of West End, It is time to begin Secret Sister 2015 and you are invited to participate! Secret Sister provides a great opportunity to grow closer to and encourage other women at West End. You will also be encouraged and have a ton of fun! Secret Sister Questionnaires are available on the table outside the auditorium for you to fill out and return by Sunday, SEPTEMBER 6th. Shortly thereafter, you will find out who your Secret Sister is. We will exchange cards, notes, gifts, encourage and uplift our Secret Sisters in prayer until our Secret Sister Reveal Dinner tentatively scheduled for Tuesday December 1st at 6 PM in the parlor.
