Cheryl Harris Conference Co-Chair

Welcome to the 28th Annual Entrepreneurial Woman’s Conference. It is my honor to serve as your Co-Chair for this exceptional event. Allstate shares much in common with the WBDC. We are both proud to call Chicago our hometown and share a commitment to the growth and development of women entrepreneurs throughout the country. Allstate’s support of the organization began in 1986 when the WBDC was taking its first trailblazing steps into the emerging world of the woman entrepreneur. Since that time, Allstate has continually looked to the WBDC to provide us with business partners that will deliver the best in services and products for Allstate customers. As a result, we have met many of our suppliers at this very event and hope to do the same this year. ®

Ride with us. Allstate believes diversity is what drives innovative business solutions. That’s why we’re so invested in building more partnerships with suppliers like you. We’re initiating new relationships every year at our annual Supplier Diversity Exchange and helping to strengthen diverse businesses through the

Year after year, 50 percent of diverse spend at Allstate goes to certified woman-owned businesses. In 2013 that equated to more than $200 million and we expect to exceed that number this year. You are the essential component of the economic engine that drives the country. Your drive to achieve creates jobs and opportunities that keep communities strong. At Allstate we appreciate the difference you make: That is why year after year Allstate continues as a sponsor for the Entrepreneurial Woman’s Conference. Allstate is proud to be here in the company of such dynamic leaders. On behalf of approximately 39,000 Allstate employees and more than 10,000 agency owners and financial specialists in the U.S., who are small business owners just like you, welcome to the 2014 conference. I wish you great success today and every day. Sincerely, Cheryl Harris Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer Allstate Insurance Company

Cassandra Sanford Conference Co-Chair

Dear WBDC Friends,

We don’t just fit in, we stand out.

As the Co-Chair of the WBDC’s 28th Annual Entrepreneurial Woman’s Conference, KellyMitchell is excited to welcome all of you to Chicago. KellyMitchell is honored to be a part of this year’s conference and is ready to join forces with both women-owned enterprises and corporate entities to succeed together. Get ready to connect, as the connections built during the next few days will prove to be invaluable. From its inception, the WBDC has supported the growth and success of women-owned enterprises. The WBDC offers numerous workshops, including those focused on pressing trends and opportunities for business owners. Through these sessions, business owners discover strategies that help them scale and innovate in these ever-changing and evolving times. In addition, their corporate panels provide direct insight into the success of large organizations, giving small to mid-size businesses the opportunity to apply valuable takeaways to their own firms. Perhaps the greatest impact on our company, and on many other women-owned enterprises, has been the WBDC’s Entrepreneurial Woman’s Conference. The WBDC’s Entrepreneurial Woman’s Conference is a vital platform for introducing our firm and capabilities to Fortune 100 corporations face-to-face. There is no doubt that the WBDC’s influence has put KellyMitchell on the fast track. The WBDC has facilitated our growth from a local company to a national organization providing a flexible, skilled workforce in 45 states. Most recently, the WBDC has aided the expansion of many women-owned businesses internationally, KellyMitchell included, and we foresee the WBDC’s global impact to continue.

“KellyMitchell is pleased to support tremendous business opportunities for WBEs through sponsorship of the 28th Annual WBDC Entrepreneurial Woman’s Conference.”

Congratulations to the WBDC for hosting another inspiring event. We are honored and privileged to be among the corporate sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, and volunteers that make this Conference possible and a true success.

28th Annual Woman Veteran Entrepreneur of the Year Kaney ONeill President, ONeill Contractors, Inc. Des Plaines, IL Years in Business: 7

Kaney ONeill comes from a family with a long history of entrepreneurs dating back four generations. Kaney started down that road by first shoveling snow in the winter, cutting grass in the summer and then at age 13 with bucket in hand started her own door-to-door car washing business. At age 19, she enlisted in the Navy with dreams of becoming a Search and Rescue Swimmer, traveling the world and earning money for college. She was stationed in Newport News, Virginia aboard the USS Nimitz to help refurbish the giant aircraft carrier. On September 15, 1999 Hurricane Floyd blew Kaney off a second floor balcony severing her spinal cord. A neurosurgeon, using power from backup generators, saved her life. As a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest down, Kaney set out to rebuild her future by attending Northwestern University, earning both a BS and MA in the fields of Learning and Organizational Change and Learning Science. When jobs did not materialize after graduation, Kaney followed in the footsteps of several generations of her family by entering into the roofing business by founding ONeill Contractors, Inc. in 2007. As a Certified Project Manager and Licensed Roofer, Kaney operates her company with three principals in mind: quality workmanship, safe work environment and continuous professional development for all company members. Her business mantra is “We can put a roof over your head, help you save our planet and put money in your pocket.” ONeill Contractor’s successful past performance with customers such as Boeing, Northern Illinois University, City of Seattle, Department of Veterans Affairs, USACE and others is proof that there are capable and qualified small firms who can be the architect of their own success, overcoming major hurdles. The Women’s Business Development Center is proud to honor the outstanding accomplishments and success of our supporter, strong business woman and friend, Kaney ONeill, with the 28th Annual Woman Veteran Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The Deluxe Corporation Foundation has supported the Women’s Business Development Center in revolutionizing its digital presence. From fueling the redesign of the WBDC.org website in 2011 to supporting the launch of the first, bilingual, (Spanish and English) eLearning courses, the Deluxe Corporation Foundation has had a significant impact in how WBDC clients do business. Additional grants have supported regional development workshops, including special programs for women veterans who want to start small businesses. The Deluxe Corporation Foundation focuses on long-term solutions that help people, businesses and communities thrive and grow. Since 1954, the Foundation has donated nearly $100 million to charitable organizations. Amanda experienced success early in her career at agencies such as Cohn & Wolfe London, Campbell Mithun and Fallon. During her time on the agency side she worked with brands such as BMW, Reebok, H&R Block, Toro and Virgin Mobile. In January of 2014, Amanda was recruited to Deluxe to help tell their amazing new brand story. A company previously known as a check industry giant, Deluxe had shifted its focus to supporting small businesses with a range of marketing and financial services. As a big supporter of “buying local” - Amanda was excited to help entrepreneurs focus on their passion. Actively involved in the community, Amanda serves as the Vice Chair for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund Board of Directors, on the Make-A-Wish Foundation Board and Jeremiah Program’s Circle of Influence. She recently finished her term as the President of the award-winning Advertising Federation of Minnesota Board. The Women’s Business Development Center is proud to honor Deluxe Corporation Foundation as its 28th Annual Foundation Impact Award recipient for their ongoing commitment to the advancement of small business owners and extend our gratitude for their generosity.
