Independent Study (IS): • Students must be sixteen or older to register for independent study. • In most cases, students may only carry two independent study credits at one time. Exceptions to this rule must be approved by administration. • Students must meet a minimum of fourteen hours with an IS teacher before a credit can be earned. • Students will be required to complete work outside of the fourteen-hour onsite attendance requirement. • All classes utilize an online curriculum. Students are required to take assessments on campus. • All independent student work must be completed by Wednesday, June 1, 2016 to count towards graduation Summer School: Summer school meets for approximately 6 weeks over June and July. Summer school is utilized solely to recover credits in order to graduate on time. Students should see their counselor if they have questions around summer school logistics and if they qualify.

There is information on schools, careers, test preparation and scholarships. There is a coordinator available in the CCC to help you find information before, during and after the school day. Counselors can be helpful in many situations, such as personal problems, questions about school and classes, questions about going to work, getting into college, vocational and business schools and future career planning. Group guidance sessions, where some of these services are made available to class-size groups, are held three times per year for juniors and seniors and twice per year for sophomores and freshmen. Family Connection/Naviance is a comprehensive website that can be used to help in making decisions about courses, colleges and careers. Family Connection/Naviance tracks and analyzes data about colleges and provides up-to-date information that is specific to our school. MCIS combines career and educational information into one comprehensive, easy-to-use career exploration tool.
