ACTIVITIES AND CLUBS Name of Activity: 3-2-1 Competition Advisor: Sue Iverson, sue.iverson@wayzata.k12.mn.us Description of activity: 3-2-1 replaces KMO. 3-2-1 is a similar team competition, but has a different style of questioning. Where to go for more information: Vision 21 Office; B207. Length of season: First season is October thru December. Second season is February to April. Practice times: Wednesday’s during lunch periods. Practice site: TBD. Competitions: Two competitions per school year. One in early winter and the other in late spring. Eligibility requirements: Open to any student interested in meeting with the teams during one lunch period per week. Meet the Wayzata School District Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements. Awards criteria & type of awards: 3-2-1 results at the national and state level are distributed after each competition. Name of Activity: Amnesty International Advisor: Steven Porter, steven.porter@wayzata.k12.mn.us Description of activity: Amnesty International works to promote and engage students in conversations about global human rights issues. Eligibility requirements: Students in grades 9-12 who meet the Wayzata School District Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements. Average number of members: 15-20. Costs: Participation fee to the WHS Activities Office. Student leadership: A leader is selected by consensus of the members. Name of Activity: Art Club Advisor: Dawn Duwenhoegger, dawn.duwenhoegger@wayzata.k12.mn.us Description of activity: Creative time to work on individual or group art related projects. Where to go for more information: Art Department faculty. Length of season: During the school year. Meeting times: Two times per month. Meeting site: D210. Eligibility requirements: Interest in art. Students in grades 9-12 who meet the Wayzata School District Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements. Costs: Participation fee is $55 to the WHS Activities Office. Name of Activity: Business Professionals of America Advisors: Candy Lee, Tyler Shepard & Tika Kude, candy.lee@wayzata.k12.mn.us Description of activity: A Career and Technical Student Organization promoting leadership through business administration; finance; management information systems; digital communication and design; and management, marketing and communications. Students build leadership capacity by designing projects, participating in simulations/activities and competing in the Workplace Skills Assessment Program. Through this experience, students will prepare to enter the world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. Competitions: Fall Leadership University in October. Regions - January, State - March, Nationals - April/May. Eligibility requirements: Open to all interested students enrolled in a business class and who meet the Wayzata School District Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements. Average number of members: 50. Costs: Participation fee of $90 ($55/$35) to cover WHS participation fee and club fees. Awards criteria & type of awards: Competition awards. Lettering requirements will be determined by advisor. Student leadership: Officers selected by BPA members. Name of Activity: Chinese Club Advisor: Sheen Heng Zhang, sheen.heng.zhang@wayzata.k12.mn.us Description of activity: After school activities to promote and encourage students to learn about the culture and the language. Where to go for more information: Ms. Heng in room A318. Length of season: All year. Meeting times: 2:30-3:15 p.m. twice a month. Meeting site: A318. Eligibility requirements: Meet the Wayzata School District Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements. Costs: Participation fee of $70 ($55/$15) to cover WHS participation fee and club fees.
