– ¡Laritza! ¡A comer! –le grita su papá.

Laritza dice por el micrófono: – ¡Ya voy papá!

Laritza canta cuando está nerviosa. Cantar la calma. Está muy nerviosa. Mañana va a ir a una nueva escuela. No quiere comer. ¡Uy! ¡Qué nervios!

Laritza piensa: «¿Voy a tener amigos? ¿Hay otros latinos en mi nueva escuela?». Laritza va a comer.

Su papá la mira con admiración.

– ¡Tienes la voz de un ángel, Laritza! Y eres adorable. Vas a ser muy popular en tu nueva escuela. Vas a tener muchos amigos. ¡Vas a tener una nueva vida!

Su papá le sirve sopa y una tortilla. Laritza no come mucho. Está muy nerviosa porque va a ir a la escuela y le duele el estómago, pero tiene que ir. Es una buena oportunidad.

Su papá tiene una vida difícil. Sacrifica mucho por su familia. No tenía oportunidades en Honduras porque no había trabajo en San Pedro Sula. Se fue de Honduras porque necesitaba trabajar. Solo quiere trabajar para su familia. Trabaja mucho y sacrifica mucho por Laritza. Quiere una buena vida para ella.

En la mañana, Laritza va hacia su nueva escuela.

Llega a la parada1 del autobús escolar con unos jeans nuevos y un suéter adorable. Ella quiere impresionar a los estudiantes de su nueva escuela.

Otras dos chicas están en la parada del autobús. Ellas la observan, pero no le hablan. Un chico también 1

Laritza no está sorprendida. Le duele escuchar al chico, pero los comentarios racistas son parte de su vida. Ella es estadounidense. Sus papás son inmigrantes de Honduras, pero ella nació3 en Estados Unidos.
