The Table Church: Making Disciples Who Make Disciples
The Table, “A Church by Addicts, for Addicts” launched in Bristol, VA in 2020. The Table invites anyone who struggles or has been affected by addiction of any kind for fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual nourishment. It is a safe place to worship with others who understand firsthand what freedom from the bondage of addiction feels like.
The Table is led by Zac Holt, who recently finished his Master of Divinity degree with Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan. A former addict and inmate himself, Zac’s passion is for relational disciple-making, using recovery to engage those who are far from the Lord. The Table operates under the oversight of the Elders of Waypoint partner Woodland Hills Christian Church in nearby Abingdon.
Zac launched a 12-month discipling program this year simply called “117” - taken from Jesus’ words in Mark 11:7, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” This year-long, two-semester discipleship pathway leads participants not only to hone and leverage their personal story into spiritual conversations, but to intentionally live on mission making disciples. Zac says the first semester is about “shaping” the disciple, the second is about “sending” disciples.
Zac was pleased that at a recent baptism service, he didn’t personally know any of those being baptized. Rather, they were all people reached through the intentional spiritual conversations of the disciples in The Table’s “117” program. The Table has celebrated 20 baptisms this year alone!
While about 75 people attend their weekly Sunday gathering, The Table’s weekly influence reaches hundreds through a growing number of disciple-led Discovery Bible Studies around town.

Cruise-In Raises $53,000 for Local Family
Waypoint partner, Compass Christian Church in Mechanicsville, VA (near Richmond), staged a massive Cruise-In during September to bene t a family in their community whose three-year old son, Oliver, was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Oliver has endured blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies, and spinal taps along with 10 di erent types of chemotherapy.
Compass Director of Outreach Christie Jones, along with her army of 140 volunteers, prepped and planned the outreach event that drew more than 1500 people from their community. The show included 280 vehicles: 150 cars, 70 motorcycles, and 60 jacked-up trucks.
The event raised over $53,000 for the Roberts family that day! Compass Minister E.L. Jones said, “The family was speechless for how so many strangers
would come together to pour love on their family and show the love of Christ to them in one of their darkest moments.”
Another long-time Waypoint partner, Rappahannock Church of Christ in Warsaw, VA, served as the mentor to Compass, having staged their own Ride-In each Spring the past 15 years. The Rappahannock church has raised nearly $400,000 in that time to help local families in times of crisis.

Church Plant Completes Facility Build-out
After 20 years of worshiping in rented spaces, Waypoint plant Celebration Christian Church in Su olk, VA has nally completed its 4000 square foot facility. Celebration Church launched in 2002 at the Nansemond River High School. Two years later, they moved into the YMCA, where they worshiped for 15 years. More recently, they had been worshiping at the Arrowhead campground, awaiting the completion of their new worship facility. Their new building includes an auditorium that seats about 100 people, children’s classrooms, and o ces. The purchase and buildout of their building werenanced by Christian Financial Resources. Adam McManus, an alumnus of MidAtlantic Christian University, has been serving as the minister at Celebration Church for the past 5 years. His wife Laura and her family were part of the original launch team when Celebration began 20 years ago. Adam and his Elders ordained a new set of young leaders at a recent worship service. A formal building dedication service is planned for Sunday, January 8.
Adam shared, “In just the past four weeks of the 20 years of Celebration’s ministry, we have learned how powerful of a tool a permanent facility can be. It has helped to build the community of the church, and given us a home base to reach out from. We are excited to see how God continues to lead us.”
