Removal from the program may be appealed to the Program’s Advisory Committee. Probation • Students who fail to meet the WUHA requirements listed above will be placed on one semester of WUHA probation at the end of the first semester during which the cumulative GPA drops below the GPA required for the academic class (see above). The student will have one semester to return the GPA to requirement as described above. During this time the student must continue to participate in all required WUHA activities. • If, after one semester of probation, the student fails to meet the WUHA requirements, the student will be removed from WUHA and may not reapply. • Students are limited to one semester of probation during their entire career at Waynesburg University. Successful completion for Honors courses is defined as a grade of Bor higher. HON 101 & 102: Honors Seminar I & II These courses will emphasize critical reading, writing, thinking, and speaking skills. • The seminar will meet once each week for 50 minutes. • Students will be assigned readings, and will be required to come to class prepared to discuss those readings. Writing assignments will be included. • Students will attend cultural, intellectual, or service events, as described in the syllabus. Common Requirement Students enrolled in HON 101 and 102 will attend at least three cultural, intellectual, or artistic events each semester, on or off campus. These events may be from the University’s Lecture series, Performing Arts series, or a University sponsored event. The seminar instructors will approve qualifying events. Students will write a short reflection paper or journal entry about each event. HON 201: Sophomore Honors Seminar I The emphasis of this course will be on critical thinking and reflection on topics that include personal and intellectual growth, and character development as well as interconnectedness with each other, the world, and God. • The seminar will meet once each week for 50 minutes. • Students will be assigned readings, and will be required to come to class prepared to discuss those readings. • Writing assignments will be included.
