INNOVATION Developed especially for panels which are likely to be exposed to water, JTC and Finsa have started to work together in the supply of FIBRAPAN exterior for Perla Wall Panels. Especially suited for use with the patented SmoothGroove interlocking tongue and groove system used by Perla, FIBRAPAN is the perfect material for excellent surface smoothness as demanded by the latest generation of high gloss laminate designs, has excellent machining properties and extremely high tolerance to water penetration.

Finsa is the oldest board manufacturer in Spain and has concentrated its investments in the development of new value-added products. Finsa, today, is an internationally recognised supplier of engineered wood boards. The board is manufactured from timber from PEFC and FSC certified forests and in addition over 60% of the wood used in the manufacture comes from recycled raw material, sawmill waste products, sawdust, wood shavings, and other forestry cuttings.

TECHNICAL SUMMARY The quality policy of FINSA is based on providing our customers with the products and services they demand with the required quality and in compliance with the regulations in force in each case.

We demand that our suppliers have a Quality System that ensures the suitability of the goods and services supplied, and, in the particular case of timber, a Sustainable Forest Management System for their exploitations or for the certification of the Chain of Custody of the products and sub-products derived from the use of this type of timber.

FIBRAPAN EXTERIOR GRADE CORE

SMOOTH GROOVE TECHNOLOGY Wetseal Technology edged panels are manufactured with an interlocking tongue and groove system to give a seamless appearance. The panels interlock on their long edge and must be installed with a bead of silicone along the top of the tongue. Make sure that there is enough silicone to ensure a water-tight seal but not too much so that it interferes with the fitting of the precision engineered joint.

By applying a strip of masking tape to each front edge of the panel the cleaning off process is simplified with the tape pulled off once the silicone is dried.

JTC ‘BUCKET TEST’ Although European Testing Norms are obviously the benchmark for product testing, there is nothing more satisfying or easier to understand than the ‘JTC Bucket of Water Test’. Whilst obviously not replicating the use of a wall panel in real life, this test is much more onerous in that the complete product is immersed for a period of four weeks in a bucket of tepid water.

We can report that a selection of panels showed no undue effect other than a slight swelling of the product as expected; no delamination and no other effects which would detract from the appearance of an installation. When the product is allowed to dry out again, then the board over time shrinks back to almost its original thickness.
