Message from the Principal

Hello OSW Families, The arts are alive and well at OSW! A huge thank you and congratulations goes to Suzanne Sturm and the cast and crew of “The Jungle Book”. It was a well-attended, entertaining event that gave our students a forum outside of the classroom to display their talents. Our 5th graders just completed their Artists-In-Residence experience with “Where the Song Comes From”, where they wrote songs about hope and freedom in relation to experiences during slavery. Thanks to Mrs. Hendrickson for all that she does to make our school beautiful with student art pieces. This week, she organized a visit from Porfirio Gutierrez, a renowned weaver from Mexico. Students learned not only the skills related to his creations, but also their meanings and related traditions. You can find his work here: www.porfiriogutierrez.com.
