COUNSELLING SERVICE What we do: WIT Student Counselling Service offers a professional and confidential psychological support service to students who are in emotional or psychological distress. The service is co-coordinated by Ann-Marie Quigley, Psychologist and staffed by a team of professionally qualified therapists. Counselling is available, free of charge to all full-time students who are registered with WIT. Counselling sessions offer a safe environment in which students can meet on a one to one basis with a psychologist or therapist to work towards resolving the emotional difficulties they are experiencing. To make an appointment for counselling: The Student Counselling Service operates by appointment only. To make an appointment please call or e-mail the service (see contact details above). When phoning or e-mailing to request an appointment please leave your name & phone number & state which campus location (Cork Road or College St) would best suit you. We will contact you by phone call or e-mail to schedule an appointment. Emergency appointments for students in crisis are available throughout each week, if you are in need of urgent support please make that clear to us at the time of requesting your appointment. Students come to us for support around a huge range of issues: Such problems may be current or arising from events in the past. The counselling process aims to support and empower students to find solutions to their difficulties and to make their day to day life more manageable. Skills gained through counselling can benefit both your personal wellbeing and interpersonal relationships throughout your life. If you are in emotional distress we would encourage you to make contact, no matter how big or small you feel your problem is. Personal development & Skills workshops The Student Counselling Service runs psycho-educational workshops and training programmes for staff and students. If you would like us to facilitate a workshop with your class or friend group please contact us. Workshop topics can be tailored to your needs, they include: stress management, self-care skills, managing anxiety, surviving class presentations/ public speaking skills, working effectively in groups. â€
