WATERFORD FC vs WEXFORD FC
SSE AIRTRICITY FIRST DIVISION
MONDAY 1ST MAY 2023, 3PM KICK-OFF
I would like to welcome James Keddy, his players, staff and everybody from Wexford FC to the RSC for today’s Bank Holiday clash.
It’s been a busy few weeks with plenty of matches but we’re delighted to be back at the RSC in front of another home crowd.
Wexford are near neighbours here and we know we’re in for a good match. They have real quality. There’s always good local interest when the sides meet and the games are always very competitive. We’re expecting more of the same as we look to continue our good recent form.
Friday was a good win in Bray. The boys showed great resilience in the second half to get a goal to bring us back into the game, got a really good second goal and saw the game out well to pick up the win.
We know we have lots of areas to work on but we’re already seeing improvements from the boys and they know there’s lots still to do.
We challenged the team at half time [on Friday] because being behind at half time wasn’t a position we’ve been in previous games, but they showed what they’re made of in the second half and how together they are as a group.
We’ve got some really good footballers here and it’s our job to help them
develop some of the decision making, to be better, to improve and hopefully we can continue to try to do that and keep moving forward.
We were delighted with the travelling crowd on Friday again. It was a great crowd and it was brilliant to see. We’re trying to build that togetherness between the players and the crowd and we’re hoping for another loud RSC today.
We’re going to need everybody to help move the club forward and the supporters will be so important to keep driving on these players.
Enjoy the game.

“The fans have been brilliant,” O’Keeffe said. “They always travel in really big numbers and they were loud again [in Bray] which we always need.
“We’re back at the RSC on Monday so we’re looking forward to the same again with a decent home crowd.”
O’Keeffe knows the importance of his side being patient on Friday to come from behind to pick up three points.
“It was hard work in the end but at half time we said we needed to be the better team in the second half, be patient, keep doing what we were doing. For spells, I think we were better in the first half but we know we’re still learning and still improving and we’ll
keep taking wins when we get them like that.”
South-East neighbours Wexford FC are the visitors on Monday and O’Keeffe is expecting nothing but a tough game.
“We know Wexford were beaten on Friday but we know we’ll get a reaction from them when they come down so we need to be on our game again. It’s been rest up and recover from Friday and prepare right for another quick turnaround.
“We’re taking it game by game, keeping the ball rolling. We know we’re six in a row now but our focus is on Wexford on Monday, and then we’ll look to the games after that.”
Good afternoon all. We would like to welcome the Wexford FC management, players and fans to the RSC for this Bank Holiday First Division match.
Congratulations to Roland Idowu who was the winner of the recent BSC Player of the Month award. A big thank you to our sponsor Dungarvan Brewing Company for their generous sponsorship.
We have a full bus travelling to Galway on Friday for our away game, so again thank you to all of our members for making the long journey and I’m sure lots of fans will travel up by car to support our team.
Best of luck to Keith, the management team and the squad for today’s game. Come on the Blues.
