Local museum, theater and dance company directors were especially keen to chat with the guest of honor, who directs the federal government’s support and funding of projects with artistic merit across the land. Chu formerly served as president and CEO of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo., where she oversaw a $413 million fund-raising campaign.
