PARKS & RENTAL INFORMATION Spaces available for rent. Please check availability

Pavilion Rentals

Pavilions located in our County Parks are available for rent. Pavilion rentals are from 9:00 am until sunset, please vacate the park by sunset. We are currently accepting reservations through the 2023 season. To secure a pavilion rental, a reservation must be confirmed, and a fee paid.

In-County Resident Fee: $60.00

Out-of-County Resident Fee: $80.00

*Specialty Pavilions follow separate fee structure. Call for more information at 240-313-2700.

Gymnasiums

Select Washington County Elementary Schools are available for rental can accommodate all types of parties. If requested, we can provide various amenities including athletic equipment. Guests can enjoy volleyball, dodgeball, kickball, and basketball in an ideal space! Party rentals are available year-round and spaces are rented at three-hour blocks. Fees apply per three-hour time block or less. To check availability and reserve gymnasium, call us at (240) 313-2805.

Schools available for rental include: Maugansville Elementary, Rockland Woods Elementary, Ruth Ann Monroe and Pangborn Elementary Schools.

Ball Field Rentals

Our County Parks feature several Ball Fields that are available to rent for sporting events, games, and parties.

TUMBLING TOTS

Parent/child class with a focus on building foundational language development, social skills, and confidence through music and learning themes! This class will help to build core, upper and lower body strength, and balance with a gymnastics-based curriculum. Our tumbling tots will learn more about movement and strength while we help prepare them to be preschoolers! For ages 1-3 years.

LITTLE NINJAS

A transitional program for children learning to engage with a group and participate in activities. This class will have a combination of physical challenges, including swimming, jumping, hanging and climbing to build your child’s core/upper body/lower body strength. This class will develop skills such as balance, free-running, vaulting, and parkour skills in a confidence-boosting environment! For ages 3-5 years (Partial parent participation.)

NEW MOVES

A traditional program for children looking to build foundational gymnastics skills while having fun! This class will have a gymnastics based curriculum which includes core/upper body/lower body strengthening, balance, and bilateral coordination, and basic tumbling skills. For ages 3-6 years old.

INTRODUCTION TO SPEED SKATING

TURNER’S SKATING PALACE

This program will introduce participants to track awareness, proper speedskatingbodyposition,basicstartinstruction,basicunderstanding of speed skating strategies and introduction to basic speed skating drills. This program will be open to quads (traditional skates), roller blades and inline skates. Required equipment is a protective helmet. Suggested equipment includes wrist guards, elbow pads, and knee pads. For ages 5-14 years old.

CO-ED YOUTH BASKETBALL SKILLS CLINIC

This one day youth basketball skills clinic will take place in Hagerstown and will focus on the fundamental skills of basketball. This is a great clinic that will involve exercises, drills, dribbling, passing, shooting, and much more. This clinic will be co-ed and staffed with instructors, coaches and Recreation Department Staff. For ages 7-13 years.

YOUTH SHOTOKAN KARATE

The basic objectives of these traditional karate classes are to develop character while physically and mentally strengthening and conditioning the individual. Instruction is led by Robert O’Brien. Uniform and testing are optional and require additional fees. For ages 7-13.

YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS

Our youth tennis classes are open to beginners through the advance level. Children will learn a variety of skills and strategies. Age is determined by the age of the participant on the first night of lessons. Space is limited so please register early.

GIRLS YOUTH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Girls Volleyball League is offered to teach volleyball skills and improve techniques in a competitive environment. Participants will be led in technique drills during weekly team practices as well as game play on Saturday mornings. After Team Selection Night, each participant will be assigned to a team. Practice and game schedules will be distributed to each participant. Each 3-5 grade team will be scheduled to practice for 1 hour on Tuesdays. Each 6-8 grade team will be scheduled to practice for 1 hour on Thursdays. League games will begin in December on Saturday mornings. Every team will play one (3-match) set each Saturday morning. Spectators are admitted free-of-charge and are encouraged to attend league game play. No equipment is necessary. Sneakers must be worn. Please bring a drink. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come/first-serve basis, spots are limited. All players must be pre-registered before team selection dates. No spots will be held without registration and payment and NO REFUNDS will be given. PLEASE INDICATE T-SHIRT SIZE ON THE REGISTRATION FORM. INTRODUCTION TO ARCHERY

The youth archery program will introduce participants to the sport of archery, to the type of bows, arrows, and safety equipment used in the sport. The program will offer instruction on archery range safety rules and safely using archery equipment. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice archery shooting techniques. YOUTH ARCHERY CLUB

This is a continuation of the Washington County Youth Archery program. To participate in this program you must have completed the Introduction to Youth Archery program. In the Youth Archery Program we will continue to focus on the fundamentals of shooting while engaging in a program long shooting competition. All equipment will be provided we will not need or use personal shooting equipment. For ages 10-15 years.

YOUTH GOLF CLINIC

This clinic will work on all aspects of playing the game of golf such as driving, chipping, pitching, and putting. Participants will also learn the proper rules of the game, and most importantly how to have fun while playing. The clinic will take place at Black Rock Golf Course (20025 Mt. Aetna Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742) on Saturdays from 9:00 - 10:30 am, for ages 7-13. There will be clubs available for use, but participants may bring their own. Dress comfortably and wear shoes you can move easily in. (3 WEEKS TOTAL - NO CLINIC ON 10/15/22) For ages 7-13.

H.I.I.T. INTERVAL TRAINING

This class offers a workout incorporating functional, full-body strength training exercises into an high intensity interval training format. COMMUNITY FITLOT

Join us at the Fitlot! The FitLot Community Fitness equipment is located at the Washington County Senior Activity Center Park. The FitLot Outdoor Fitness Park was thoughtfully designed for all ages and abilities to use in a community setting making the benefits of an indoor facility free and accessible to everyone. This program is available for anyone who is interested in learning how they can take advantage of this community fitness equipment. This is not just for seniors but any interested adults.

The FitLot is located at 535 East Franklin Street, Hagerstown, MD. 21740. Bring a personal supply of water and a towel.

Teams will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. You must register as a team to participate. Deadline to register is Sept.1, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

ADULT INDOOR PICK-UP FUTSAL SOCCER

Pick up co-ed futsal for players of all levels who enjoy the game. Participants must register prior to the start of the league. No walk-in registrations will be accepted.

REGISTRATION FORM

1. Pick program(s) you are interested in and note the registration number.

2. Complete the registration form included in the rec guide. Every form must be signed by participant or parent/guardian in under the age of 18.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

Webtrac is the Washington County Recreation Department’s online registration system. This software provides users with an additional method of registering for most programs. Those with internet access can access can view program availability, register for programs and view their history 24 hours a day! You must register for an account prior to registering for your first program at www.washcorecfit.com. You will be directed to choose a username and password for your family/ household. Once registered, you can view open activities, choose desired program and add to the shopping chart. Proceed to check out using a Visa, Mastercard or Discover to complete your transaction on the secured site. Upon completion of registration, you will receive a receipt notification via e-mail. You must make complete payment at the time of registration. Partial payments will not be accepted. For assistance with online registration, please call 240-313-2805. In the event you have forgotten your password, please use the password recovery link on the login page.

PAYMENT

You must pay at the time of registration. We accept checks (payable to Washington County Treasurer), credit cards and money orders. Bank returned checks are subject to a $25 processing fee.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION

Please make note of your program start date. No confirmation will be sent. Your canceled check is your receipt. You will only be notified if there is a problem processing your registration or if the program is canceled.

FEE STRUCTURE

Resident - residing within the boundaries of Washington County, MD. Often referred as “in-county.” Nonresident - residing outside the boundaries of Washington County, MD. Often referred as “outof-county.” Prorations and discounts will not be offered for partial participation in programming. Multiple day programs will not be discounted or prorated due to inability to attend. Proration for late registration will be at the discretion of the Department Director.

REFUND POLICY

No refunds or transfers will be made after a program has started, except in the case of the participant’s illness, supported by written documentation from a physician. Credits will only be issued at the discretion of the Department Director. *Note: a $15 service charge per participant/per activity will be assessed for any participant who cancels or transfers.

AGE POLICY

Program participants must be the advertised age for a program by the first day of the program. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make the instruction consistent and safe.

PERSONS REQUIRING SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS

Please call the Recreation Office at 24-313-2805 voice/TDD at least 10 working days prior to the activity or special event. Notification during registration (if earlier than 10 days) is preferred.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY/CLASS CANCELLATION

When HCC is closed, all programs held at that location are canceled. All other program locations: If weather is a concern, it is the participants responsibility to call the weather hotline for cancellation

announcements. The weather hotline is 240-313-2811.

PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS

Sometimes excellent courses with super instructors are canceled because too many people wait until the last minute to register. Our courses have to be cost-recoverable, and we need a minimum number of students enrolled before a class can run. Don’t wait! Register now for a class of your choice. The Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel, postpone or combine classes for any reason found to be necessary by the staff. If insufficient enrollment causes an activity to be canceled, participants will receive a FULL REFUND. When a class is rescheduled by our department, no refunds will be given. Please allow 2 weeks for the processing of refunds.

REGISTER EARLY!

Early program registration is encouraged because participant space is limited with each program. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Pre-Registration is REQUIRED unless otherwise indicated. Please note, our special events are very popular and fill-up very quickly. Make sure you register early for special events in order to attend - most special events require that you have a ticket prior to the event date.

Tennis courts are located behind the ARCC with parking. HCC parking is limited to parking marked L1, L2 and L3 at HCC for participants of programs offered via the Rec Department. The Athletic, Recreation and Community Center - ARCC is located on campus of Hagerstown Community College.
