t’s time to paint the town red, blue green, yellow. After all, Holi — the grand festival of colours — is just two days away. From pichkaris to gulaal and sweets, city markets are full of cheerful and eager buyers. The biggest wholesale market in the Capital, old Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar, is also stocked up with Holi goodies. “We start getting customers weeks before the festival begins. We employ extra staff to help us during peak hours,” says Mohan Singh of Shyam Rakhi Bhandar in Sadar Bazaar. Other markets in the city are also flooded with customers. “Other than UP, Delhi celebrates Holi in a grand way. Gulaal and green colours are the bestsellers,” says Bhimchand, owner of a store in Paharganj. Nehru caps, that were a hit last year, are selling this year too. “They add a traditional Mathura touch,” says vendor Prakash Kurar. The caps are priced between R2-R15. There are many other unique products this year that are attracting customers. We bring you some interesting products available at markets in the city. So, pick up the pichkari, stuff your pockets with gulaal and get going. Holi hai!
