In November the Ashburton Art Gallery opened "Configure" a group exhibition by six Ōtepoti-Dunedin artists responding to Judy Chicago’s and Miriam Schapiro’s "Womanhouse" in California in 1972. Transforming a domestic space into an exhibition/installation, "Womanhouse" shifted perspectives on ideas about the relationships between women and home. In addition CoCA Toi Moroki gallery opens "Toro Whakaara: Responses to our Built Environment" an exhibition that features the work of ten artists, divided evenly between CoCA in Christchurch and Objectspace in Auckland. "Toro Whakaara: Response to our Built Environment" ‘ Director of both galleries, Kim Paton, describes the exhibition as exploring "the notion of hostile architecture or defensive design, urban planning strategies designed to deter certain types of behaviour."
