GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR PRINCIPAL CLUB EVENTS

Entrants in all principal club events must be financial members of the Warragul Golf Club for the duration of the Competition. Competitors will play as drawn by the respective Golf Committees.

The Golf Committees, may at their discretion, amend or alter the draw before or during play of a Competition. If not played according to the draw, offending player or players will incur immediate disqualification. All play to be played from Tees set for the days Competition unless otherwise stated in conditions of play for that event.

Finals of all Matches must be played on days as scheduled by the respective Golf Committees.

• Golf carts are permitted for all Board Events

• Board Events - If carts are not permitted on course, carts will NOT be allowed. If the Match in question is a Final, all reasonable attempts will be made to play or reschedule at a mutually agrees time, as set by the Committee.

GOLF CART POLICY:

A MAXIMUM OF 2 GOLF CARTS PER GROUP

Warragul Country Club Golf Cart Use Policy

The Warragul Country Club Golf Cart Use Policy has been introduced to provide guidance to members and guests in relation to minimizing the wear and tear associated with the use of golf carts on our course. The policy will also provide clarity on the use of carts in wet conditions to maintain the course in the best condition and prevent cart accidents.

General conditions for cart usage

• It is expected that in normal usage golf carts should approach no closer than 10 metres of greens and tees.

• As far as is practical, golf carts and motorised scooters should use cart paths where provided and should keep all wheels on the path. It is expected that there be no more than two carts per playing group of four players. This does not include motorised scooters.

• Under no conditions should carts and motorised scooters enter GUR areas.

• Golf carts and motorised scooters are not to proceed through roped off areas or blue lines without specific approval and without displaying permit flags as outlined in Special Conditions

Cart Rules for Wet Weather

The decision to ban carts will be made by the course staff in conjunction with pro shop staff. All carts and scooters are banned from the course. Notice to be placed on website and emails sent to players at earliest possible time. In wet conditions where carts are still allowed the following additional requirements apply:

• Cart users to be mindful where they travel.

• Golfers to avoid slippery slopes

• All carts to be driven in rough and players should walk to their ball. Where fairways need to be crossed the fairway may be directly crossed at a dry point.

Special Conditions

Golfers convalescing from injury or with longer term disabilities can make application to use golf carts and motorised scooters to enable closer access to Teeing Grounds and Putting Greens. The process for this is to make verbal application through the Pro Shop. On approval, carts containing approved golfers will be provided flags by the pro shop and may drive closer to tees and greens within reason. The intent being that under controlled conditions, nominated Golfers will be allowed closer proximity to Teeing Grounds and Putting Greens than would normally be provided to Golf Carts and Motorised Scooters.

EXTREME WEATHER POLICY

The Warragul Country Club Extreme Weather Policy has been introduced to provide guidance to Members and guests in relations to playing conditions which may impact on the health and wellbeing of players on the golf course. The extreme weather policy addresses issues of extreme heat, lightning, strong winds and the need to suspend play when greens become unplayable due to heavy rain or other conditions.

Extreme Heat

Policy: “Should the forecast temperature at 6.00pm on the evening before the day of competition be 40*C or more, the competition for that day will be cancelled”.

• The course will remain open for play.

• Time sheet bookings will remain so that all Members who booked will be assured of their game if they wish to play.

• Should the event for the day be of a significant nature e.g. Medal. The event will be transferred to a date to be determined.

• Should the forecast temperature at 6.00pm as above be 42*C or more the course will be closed.

• In the event of the temperature on a competition day exceeding the forecast temperature and reaches 40*C the competition shall be cancelled and those on the course shall be able to choose to complete their round or receive a credit on their next round.

Reference:

The reference point for the determination of the expected temperatures shall be the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) Web Site www.bom.com.au using postcode 3820

Extreme Heat (Social Play)

Policy: “Should the forecast temperature at 6.00pm on the evening before the day of play be 40*C or more the course for that day will be closed”. When temperatures are forecast to exceed 36 degrees, Golf Australia recommends that golfers either postpone golf to a cooler part of the day or cancel their booking altogether. Members choosing to play despite this warning do so at their own discretion.

Lightning

Policy: “Should lightning be in the immediate vicinity of the golf course (within a 20 km radius of Warragul), play will be suspended).

The Rules of Golf acknowledge that lightning on Golf Courses has caused deaths and injuries and urges golf clubs to take precautions for the protection of golfers against lightning. Rule 5.7 and such provision allow the Committee or its representative to suspend play or for players to discontinue play if they believe that there is a danger from lightning.

13

When play is suspended by the Committee or its representative, all players must discontinue play immediately. The Committee or its representative will determine when play is to resume. Failure to discontinue play on the advice of the Committee will result in disqualification.

Players who discontinue play without specific Committee permission must report to Committee as soon as practical. No penalty will be applied if the reason is satisfactory. Otherwise, the player will be disqualified.

One prolonged note of a siren (5 seconds) will advise players to discontinue play immediately. Two short notes of the siren, repeated, will signal resumption of play. Players who fail to resume play immediately on the signal for resumption will be disqualified.

REFERENCE: The reference for the proximity of lightning shall be the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) Web Site www.bom.com.au

Strong Winds

Policy: “Should the forecast at 6.00pm on the day before a Competition be for winds likely to exceed 50 kph, Members will be reminded of the possible dangers of falling limbs or trees. Should a situation arise where the Committee or its representative considers such winds to be a danger to Members, play will be suspended”.

Members are advised and reminded of the dangers of limbs falling from trees on days of extreme winds. Members are advised to be aware of the forecast of strong winds and have consideration to their own personal safety while out on the course.

REFERENCE: The reference for the forecast of strong winds shall be the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) Web Site www.bom.com.au

Fog

Policy: “Play will not commence or will be suspended if the flag on the 3rd Hole is not visible from under the eaves outside the Golf Shop”. Players on the timesheet have right of way on the starting tee over players whose round has been delayed by fog.

Course Unplayable

If the Committee or its representative considers for any reason the course is not in a playable condition or that there are circumstances that render the proper playing of the game impossible, it may order a temporary suspension of play or cancel all scores for the round.

14

On advice from the Committee or its representative of a situation which warrants suspension of play, players may discontinue to play immediately or continue to play out the hole provided they do so without delay. Play must be discontinued after the completion of the hole.

Delay in Tee Times

If a delay in tee times is experienced due to weather or course conditions the Golf Shop Staff will manage tee times as follows:

• Tee times which were lost will be forfeited. All players with tee-off times prior to the course opening (or re-opening) are encouraged to consult the Golf Shop Staff to book a later tee time.

• Should any delayed start cause the failure of a competitor to complete their round in a “Board Event”, it will be rescheduled by the Match Committee.

• Should the forecast temperature at 6.00pm on the evening before the day of Competition be 40*C or above, the Competition for that day will be cancelled.

Siren Notification Procedures

Suspension of Play

Suspension of play will be signaled by one (1) continuous blast of the siren. (Approximately 5 seconds long) Players should return to the Clubhouse until further notice and await advice on resumption. Balls in play may be marked or left awaiting resumption.

Resumption of Play

Two (2) short blasts on the siren. Players should return to their positions immediately and resume play.

NOTE: The one (1) continuous blast of the siren may also be employed where the siren is being used to commence “Shotgun Start” events.

The Committee or its representative may at any time prohibit or restrict the use of golf carts or motorized ride on golf buggies if it is felt that they represent a danger to players or to the condition of the golf course.

15

TYPES OF COMPETITIONS PLAYED

STROKE COMPETITIONS

Scores in stroke competitions are achieved by recording the stroke taken on each hole. The scores for all 18 holes are added up at the completion of the round to calculate the Gross score which is recorded in the Gross box. The Nett score is calculated by subtracting a player’s daily handicap from the player’s Gross score and is recorded in the Nett box.

STABLEFORD COMPETITIONS

A player’s score in Stableford competitions are converted into points at each hole played in relation to his/her handicap. The Stroke Index column on the score card indicates how many strokes a player receives on a hole. E.G. A player with a handicap of 12 would receive one stroke on each hole with a Stroke Index of 1 to 12 but would not receive a stroke on the other six holes with Stroke Index of 13 to 18. A player with a handicap of 19 would receive one stroke on each hole except when playing the hole with a Stroke Index of 19 where they would receive two strokes. The player’s score for each hole should be placed in the appropriate column (e.g. your score in the Marker 1 column) and the points in the Result column. If a player has played too many shots on a particular hole and cannot score any points on that hole they should pick up their ball to help speed up play. The points are added up at the completion of the round and recorded in the Nett box.

PAR COMPETITIONS

A player’s score in Stroke v Par competitions receive a plus (+), minus (-) or square (■) at each hole played in relation to his/her handicap. A point or plus (+) is achieved by beating par at a hole in relation to the player’s handicap. A square (■) is achieved by matching par at a hole in relation to the player’s handicap. A point is deducted or a minus (-) placed on the card if the player fails to beat or match par at a hole in relation to the player’s handicap. The player’s score for each hole should be placed in the appropriate column (e.g. your score in the Marker 1 column) and the points in the Result column. The Stroke Index column on the score card indicates how many strokes a player receives on a hole. If a player has played too many shots on a particular hole and cannot score a plus or a square on that hole, they should pick up their ball to help speed up play. The final score is calculated after completion of the round – the minus signs are subtracted from the plus signs giving a plus, square or minus score. (e.g. 6 pluses – 4 minuses = +2) The final score is recorded in the Nett box

FOUR BALL BEST BALL (4BBB)

In 4BBB events two competitors play as partners. Each player plays their own ball. The Stroke Index column on the score card indicates how many strokes each player receives on a hole. In 4BBB Stroke, the lowest Nett score of the partners is recorded as the score for each hole is recorded in the Player(s) Result column (i.e. If a player scores 5 on a hole on which they are allocated one stroke by the Stroke Index, their Nett score for that hole is 4). The actual number of shots played by the player that scored the lowest Nett score must also be recorded in the appropriate column. (Column 1 for Player 1 or Column 2 for Player 2). In 4 Ball Multiplication, the two partners multiply their Stableford scores on each hole and record the total. Both players strokes and points must be recorded on the card, the products of the multiplied points then added, with the pair with highest score winning. (e.g. 3 points x 3 points = 9 or 4 points x 0 points = 0 points).

In 4BBB Stableford, the highest points score is recorded for each hole. The strokes and points must be recorded on the card (unless 0 is the Stableford score) in the same way strokes and Nett scores should be recorded in 4BBB Stroke and then added. The pair with the lowest number of strokes in a 4BBB Stroke event or the highest number of points in a 4BBB Stableford event are the winners.

In 4 Ball Aggregate Stableford, the two partners add their Stableford score each hole (e.g. 3 points + 2 points = 5 points). Both player’s strokes and scores (unless 0 is the score) must be recorded on the card. The scores are then added with the highest number of points winning. Swingers Allowed. If there are only three players in the group in a Four Ball Competition, then the lowest marker in that group plays with both players.

AMBROSE

A team stroke event played by a group of two, three or four. Each player plays a tee shot at each hole. The team then selects and marks the best drive and all players place their ball from within one club-length of the selected position and play their second shots. This procedure of selecting the best position continues until a ball is holed. UNLESS IT IS A DROPOUT AMBROSE WHICH MEANS THE PLAYER WHOSE BALL IS SELECTED, HE/SHE MUST DROPOUT FROM PLAYING FROM SELECTED SPOT. ONCE ON THE GREEN, EVERYONE CAN THEN PUTT. Balls are placed within one score card length of the selected spot on the green.

If a tee shot rule is applied (i.e. 3 tee shot rule), each player must use the minimum number of tee shots specified and the initials of the person whose tee shot was taken must be shown on the card.

Handicaps are calculated as follows:

• 2 Ball – one quarter of combined handicaps

• 3 Ball – one sixth of combined handicaps

• 4 Ball – one eighth of combined handicaps FOURSOMES

Players alternate between shots after teeing off. The tee shots are also taken alternately (Player One tees off on the first tee, Player Two tees off on the second tee and so on).

In Mixed Foursomes, men tee off from the Odd Tees. Ladies tee off from the even tees. The order of play is not changed if a player incurs a penalty. In Mixed Foursomes, the female member of the team must play a tee shot from the men’s tee if the male member hits his shot Out-ofBounds. Played and recorded as if a single stroke event. Nett scores are calculated by deducting half of the players’ combined handicaps from the Gross score.

AMERICAN FOURSOMES

This game is played in pairs using three eights of combined handicap to calculate the team’s Nett score. Both partners tee off from each tee. They then play their second shot with their partner’s ball. They then select the best ball and the partner of the player whose ball was selected plays the team’s third shot. The pair plays alternate shots thereafter until the ball is holed.

CANADIAN FOURSOMES

This game is played in pairs using three-eighths of the combined handicap to calculate the team’s Nett score. Both partners tee off from each tee. They then select the best positioned ball and the partner of the player whose ball was selected plays the team’s second shot. The pair plays alternate shots thereafter until the ball is holed.

CHAPMAN FOURSOMES

This game is played in pairs using three eights of the combined handicap to calculate the team’s Nett score. Both partners tee off from each tee. They then play their second shot with their own ball. They then select the best ball and the partner of the player whose ball was selected plays the team’s third shot. The pair plays alternate shots thereafter until the ball is holed.

SPLIT SIXES

This is a Stableford competition for 2 player teams. For holes 1 – 6 only the best individual score for each hole counts. For holes 7 - 12 the aggregate of both scores are used. EG: Player 1 has 5/2 & Player 2 has 4/3. Aggregate score for that hole is 5 stableford points.

For holes 13 – 18 both player scores are multiplied. EG: Player 1 has 6/1 and player 2 has 4/3. Stableford score would be 3. Can only be played in conjunction with Invidividual stableford events.

IRISH STABLEFORD – MULTIPLE VARIATIONS OF THE GAME

Teams of 3 or 4 – Best two (2) Stableford points on each hole. Teams of 3 or 4 – Best three (3) Stableford points on each hole

Teams of 4 – Best four (4) Stableford points per hole

Teams of 3 or 4 – Best Stableford score on 1st hole, best 2 scores on second hole & best 3 scores on third hole then back to best score on 4th hole, best 2 on 5th and so on.

Teams of 3 or 4 – Best Stableford score on holes 1 – 6. Best 2 stableford scores on holes 7 – 12 & best 3 stableford scores on holes 13 – 18.
