Replace Bull PAP Testing
The Red, White, & Blue Bull Sale has had Dr. Tim Holt PAP test our bulls. We feel that he is the best in the business and we feel very confident that if Dr. Holt believes they will work at elevation that is the best we can do. We will NOT GUARANTEE any retest on the bulls. Please see the following for a guideline that Dr. Holt has come up with over his last several years of testing.
-These are typical guidelines/classifications only.
-Other PAP evaluations should be considered such as genetics, EPD’s , Systolic/Diastolic pressures, breed and previous illness.
-Special consideration should be give to time the animal was housed or has been at elevation prior to the testing. The predictability of the PAP measurement improves over time at elevation (5500 feet minimum).
-This chart is based on animals greater than 10 months of age. The older the animal at the time of testing the better the predictive value of the measurement. Younger animals have a wide variation in repeatability.
-Each location where the PAP is done should be evaluated as no one place is identical to another. Individual ranch location guidelines can and should be utilized.
Definitions:
Repeatable or Repeatability percent—this term is used to give strength to a given score saying that if the PAP test was carried out later in life than the score would be close to or within the same category as the first score taken. For example a PAP measurement taken below 4000 feet only has a 60 % repeatable percent meaning that a repeat test only has a 40% chance of staying within the same category as the original test.
Predictive Value—this term is closely related to repeatability percent but specifically says that the original score can accurately predict what that animal will retest in a higher elevation.

Ward Livestock and the Red, White, & Blue Bull Sale are continually honored to have the ability to support our customers. As in previous years, we will be selling a select set of elite AI-bred females. These females are sired by PAP tested bull, and AI’d to low PAPing herd sires. They will sell in groups of 5 or more.
The bred heifers sold in the 2024 RWB Bull Sale are AI-Bred to SITZ Dignity 596L, who surpasses breed averages in several columns & PAPed a 39. These females were cleaned up using PAP tested bulls. Sired by RWB/ Ward Livestock bulls, bid with confidence that the bred heifers are prepared to work at altitude.
BRED HEIFERS
THE FEMALES WILL SELL IN SEPARATE GROUPS OF AI-BRED AND BULL BRED FEMALES. MUST BE PURCHASED IN GROUPS OF 5 OR MORE.
These females originated from Kyle Breeden, Ned McKee and Scott Butcher and were purchased by the FKW partnership through Torrington Livestock Markets. FKW purchases 2,500-2,700 head of cattle per year, and these heifers are hand selected out of that group. Ward Livestock and Jeff Ward thank FKW for their continued faith in our program, and the opportunity to buy thier cattle.
