WEEK 9 READING: TITLE OF READING

Question 1: What are Durer’s rules for perspectival projection? (Maximum 100 words) Durer’s rules for perspectival projection contains three main ideas. Firstly, all the perpendiculars meet at the central vanishing points. Secondly, all parallels in any direction have an identical vanishing point.

Lastly, equal diminish progressively as they recede in space. Therefore any proportion of the of the picture is calculable from the portion that eyes is known.

Question 2: Describe homogenous space? (Maximum 100 words)

Homogenous space is a mathematical space. It is never a given space but a space produced by construction. Points within a space aim to reflect an object position and relationship to space. This allows similar objects to be drawn with any direction of points in the space.

The idea behind my interpretation of the thin city Sophronia was to illustrate scenes in both halves. There was a contrast of both city themes as the half was temporary and the half was permanent. The temporary cities are animated through its market, banks and slaughterhouse. And the other half on behalf the city was left, in a carnivalesque environment.

The notation was inserted in the old guard to show the movement of the Macro Polo and the location of characters as well the environment inside. The signs align the situation in the two perpectives.

QUAD PERSPECTIVE 1 + 2 Linework drawing of Perspective 1 Perspective 1tries to portrays Marco Polo’s first impression of this city. This view that looks lean to the left through the arcade.

The open area allows people to view the streetscape of the city. It The stairs are being placed to show a stage-like feeling.

Linework drawing of Perspective 2 The Second perspective is viewed From Macro Polo standing on the stair and staring the second half Sophronia where Cardinal was taken place. From this view, the facial expression of characters could be viewed to create a relaxed atmosphere.

PERSPECTIVE SCENE 1 + 2 A narrow arcade is illustrating the working environment(slaughterhouse, bank etc.) in the first perspective. It was entirely different in contrast to the second perspective scene. The characters and background were chosen to reflect on the concept of the temporary. For example, The man site on the ground was writing a letter to say goodbye to his friends might take with the promise of a return next year. The woman was staring at the way to another city which suggested they are planning to leave. The people being pushing out of the door.

It indicates that the social environment was under unrest because the city was just a temporary shelter for these people, not an ultimate destination.

This ‘vagrant’ city was immobile which influence the Macro Polo’s mood turns into heavy.

The second perspective illustrates the half -Sophronia. The background was set on the carnival environment, and the character chosen appear to relax in the endless amusements laughter. The children and family as well the old man playing the harp creates an atmosphere of Stable and harmonious compare with the tension of the first half city.

It gives to more utopian feeling in a stable, permanent environment.

Question 1: IWhat is the difference between autographic and allographic practice? (Maximum 100 words) Both autographic and allographic practice is used to describe something that has not yet been constructed in reality. What Autographic adheres is a traditional way to portray objects with accurate detailing. It refers to the direct contribution of the authour. Therefore, the work cannot be reproduced.

Whereas the allographic has a greater extent of creativity, compare to autographic. It is operated through personal interpretation, so it can reproduce work from a distance of time, etc.

Question 2: Why do architects need new representational techniques? (Maximum 100 words) it is important that for architects to follow the developmemnt of the technology. Because the surrounding are changing all the time, architects need the new representational techniques to engage the time and changes, shifting points of views therefore the archiect could interven in the new field.
