MEMORIES CREATING LASTING

Your wedding day is a momentous occasion that you and your guests will cherish forever. While it’s undoubtedly one of the biggest days of your life, you don’t have to go through the planning process alone. Your wedding party will be there to support you every step of the way, ensuring that your special day runs smoothly and stress-free.

To keep all your ideas organized and ensure that no detail goes overlooked, consider using a wedding book or journal. This handy tool will help you track everything from table plans and RSVPs to styling your bridesmaids’ dresses. With a well-organized plan in place, you can focus on what truly matters – your partner and your shared journey into marriage.

A crucial aspect of wedding planning is budgeting. Many couples find themselves going over budget, but you can avoid this by creating a comprehensive wedding checklist and sticking to it. This approach not only reduces stress but also guarantees that you remain organized and don’t miss any vital elements on your special day.

At our service, we’re dedicated to helping you make your wedding day as perfect as possible. Our features offer valuable tips and ideas that align with

your unique style. From selecting the ideal bridal dress to ensuring the groom looks his best, we’ve got you covered. We also provide expert advice on transportation, venues, and the latest wedding trends, ensuring that your celebration remains fresh and memorable.

Contemporary weddings have taken a turn towards expressing the couple’s individuality rather than adhering strictly to tradition. Couples seek ways to create a unique and unforgettable experience for their guests. This has led to the rise of unconventional entertainment choices, such as circus performers, magicians, and even theatrical fire breathers, guaranteeing an extraordinary celebration for all in attendance.

Your wedding day is meant to be a beautiful and cherished event. With the support of your wedding party and our helpful features, you can plan a celebration that perfectly reflects your love and style, creating lasting memories for years to come.

When it comes to planning your wedding, choosing the right venue should be at the top of your priority list. Your venue selection sets the stage for your entire celebration, making it a crucial decision to make early in the process.

Selecting the ideal venue will depend on several factors, including your location, budget, and the number of guests you plan to invite. Keep in mind that some venues, like stately homes, may have a minimum guest requirement, which might not be suitable for an intimate wedding.

So, start by determining the approximate number of attendees you wish to have. Additionally, be mindful of your budget, ensuring that the venue cost does not exceed half of your overall wedding budget. As you finalize your venue choice, inquire about what’s included in the price and allocate a portion of your budget for any desired extras.

Consider the logistics of travel, especially if your ceremony and reception will be held at different venues. Travel arrangements not only impact you and your guests but also your photographer and transport providers, who may charge extra for extensive travel. To streamline the day, consider pre-booking transportation options like coaches if there’s a significant distance between venues.

This thoughtful planning will make your day more convenient and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Once you’ve settled on a venue, you can begin planning other details to create your dream wedding day. The venue will influence your options for catering, decorations, transport, and even your dress style. Choose your venue carefully, as it will directly impact the theme and overall styling of your wedding.

Take advantage of opening days or fairs that many venues host, allowing you to visit and explore the spaces. This will help you visualize how your big day will unfold, ensuring that everything aligns perfectly with your vision.

Besides aesthetics, pay attention to stunning landscapes when selecting your venue. A picturesque setting provides the perfect backdrop for memorable photo opportunities. Your wedding photographer will capture those precious moments, leaving you with timeless mementos to cherish for a lifetime. Remember, choosing the right venue sets the scene for your entire wedding experience. By carefully considering your options and envisioning your dream day, you can create a truly unforgettable celebration that reflects your love and style.

CHURCH WEDDING

A TIMELESS JOURNEY TO

THE ALTAR

When it comes to wedding venues, churches hold a special allure with their timeless beauty and rich history. In Britain alone, there are approximately 16,000 churches to choose from, each offering a unique sense of character and a chance to be a part of centuries-old traditions.

One of the most endearing aspects of a church wedding is the opportunity to infuse it with personal touches that hold significance for you and your family. Whether it’s getting married in a church where previous generations exchanged vows, selecting cherished hymns, or using prayers passed down through the family, a church ceremony can create beautiful connections to your past. Additionally, many couples are drawn to the spiritual experience of having their union blessed in front of their loved ones, regardless of their specific religious beliefs.

A notable aspect of Church of England weddings is their inclusivity. You don’t have to be religious to have a Church of England wedding, as vicars understand that spiritual beliefs can be diverse and complex. Whether you’re a regular churchgoer or have never attended before, you will always be warmly welcomed to celebrate your special day within the church’s sacred walls. On the other hand, Catholic weddings require at least one partner to be of the Catholic faith, with the need to obtain a dispensation if the other partner is not Catholic.

Church weddings typically take place between 8 in the morning and 6 in the evening and require at least two witnesses to be present. The average cost of a church wedding is around £500, covering expenses such as the church itself, the Vicar’s services, the marriage certificate, and the reading of the banns. Additional elements like floral arrangements or an organist may come at an extra cost. To ensure everything goes smoothly on your big day, many churches offer the opportunity to have a wedding rehearsal for you, your partner, and the bridal party. This ensures you feel at ease and prepared as you walk down the aisle.

In England and Wales, wedding vows cannot be changed. However, in Scotland, couples have the option to personalize their vows with the approval of the Minister, allowing for a more individualized and meaningful ceremony.

A church wedding remains a timeless choice, providing not only a beautiful setting but also an opportunity to honour tradition and create lasting memories surrounded by the love and support of family and friends.

YOUR WEDDING, YOUR UNIQUE

CELEBRATION

A civil ceremony offers you and your partner the chance to have a completely personalized wedding without any religious elements or connotations.

This opens up a world of possibilities, providing you with unparalleled freedom, especially when it comes to choosing your ceremony location – with thousands of approved buildings across the UK, from castles to aquariums, the options are endless. One of the key advantages of a civil ceremony is the ability to customize your venue to your heart’s content, allowing your true personality to shine on your special day. From the decorations to the ambiance, you have the power to create an environment that reflects who you are as a couple.

Another beautiful aspect is the freedom to tailor the music and readings to your unique love story. Your vows, in particular, can be chosen without any restrictions, allowing them to be a profound expression of your bond as a couple. You can opt for song lyrics, poetry, or even a simple phrase that holds deep meaning for both of you, making your vows even more heartfelt and personal. With this freedom, you can compose genuine and meaningful words that truly resonate with your partner.

Moreover, civil ceremonies are often shorter than

traditional church services, making it a practical choice for those who want a concise yet significant celebration.

The level of control and flexibility provided by a civil ceremony allows you to craft a perfect and personalized day that you and your family will cherish forever. This unique approach ensures your wedding is a memorable and bespoke event, turning your dream wedding into a beautiful reality.

While a simple registry office ceremony is an option, some may find it lacks the special and personal touch that other choices offer. Registry office ceremonies come with certain formalities required for any legally binding contract. Notice of Intention to Marry or the Notice of Civil Partnership must be given to the Registry Office, and the ceremony must take place within a year to allow for any legal objections to be stated.

In the end, it’s all about having the wedding of your dreams, and a civil ceremony opens the door to endless possibilities, enabling you to create a one-of-a-kind celebration that perfectly represents your love and commitment.

OUTDOOR WEDDINGS

CELEBRATE UNDER THE SKY

Picture your dream wedding set against the breathtaking backdrop of a starry night sky, a picturesque beach, or a tranquil forest - the allure of outdoor weddings is undeniable. However, before you embark on this enchanting journey, there are some essential factors to consider.

In the United Kingdom, legal marriages must take place under a fixed structure with a roof, which includes options like verandas or bandstands. Unfortunately, you cannot be legally married inside a marquee, but you can have a blessing at your chosen location and complete the legal formalities separately.

Many venues in the UK have structures like pavilions or huts specifically designed to host wedding ceremonies. Some venues even obtain special licenses to accommodate unique locations like treehouses and beach huts, enabling you to fulfill your dream of an outdoor wedding. If you seek a more stable and weather-resistant alternative to a marquee, consider a yurt. Yurts offer a larger interior space, making them suitable for weddings, especially during uncertain weather months. With some yurts featuring interior woodburning stoves and cozy seating areas, they provide the perfect ambiance for outdoor weddings, even on cooler evenings.

An outdoor wedding also presents an opportunity to break away from traditional three-course meals, especially if you’re hosting the ceremony in an open barn or marquee.

A buffet-style setup adds to the relaxed atmosphere of a rustic wedding and can be a more budget-friendly catering option compared to formal wedding breakfasts.

One of the joys of an outdoor wedding is its flexibility, accommodating weddings of all sizes. Whether you desire an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, you can tailor the event according to your budget and preferences. Outdoor spaces are also easily personalized to suit various themes, from an English country garden to a charming tea party or a rustic and rural setting.

When planning an outdoor wedding, it’s crucial to inform your guests about the outdoor arrangements. Ensure your invitations are descriptive, clearly indicating the outdoor theme, and advise your friends and family to dress appropriately for the weather. Consider mentioning the possibility of surprise showers or cooler temperatures and recommend jackets, wraps, and umbrellas as necessary.

By considering these essential aspects, your outdoor wedding can become a truly magical and unforgettable experience, celebrating love amidst the beauty of nature’s embrace.

Your wedding reception is a chance to showcase your personality and style, making it a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.

It’s the highlight of the day for many guests, and with their expectations high, you have the perfect opportunity to throw a fantastic party that everyone will cherish. Whether you envision an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, your wedding reception should be a reflection of your love and joy. From the meal to the seating arrangements, every detail should be carefully planned to ensure a delightful experience for your guests.

When it comes to the meal, you can choose between a formal affair or a buffet-style setup. Consider developing a thoughtful seating chart that groups family and friends with similar interests or connections. This way, even guests who haven’t met before will have something to talk about, fostering a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the reception.

One of the most important aspects of the wedding reception is personally greeting each guest as they arrive. Take the time to express your gratitude for their presence and support on this special day. With a busy schedule ahead, greeting them individually allows you to make each guest feel valued and appreciated.

To keep the celebration flowing smoothly, consider having an open bar. Even if you’re on a budget, there are options like serving one brand of beer, ale, or house wine and offering a couple of cocktail choices for those who prefer something more exotic. Another option is to provide a complimentary drink, such as prosecco, at the beginning of the reception, putting a smile on your guests’ faces from the start. Offering the option for guests to purchase other drinks ensures everyone’s preferences are catered to.

WEDDINGS ABROAD

VOWS IN

THE SUN

Saying ‘I do’ in a foreign land comes with its share of pros and cons, but the unique and unforgettable experience can make it all worth it.

Marrying abroad offers the freedom to exchange vows and celebrate your special day in the location of your dreams, whether it’s on a serene beach or amidst snowy landscapes. This opens up a world of possibilities, allowing you to curate a wedding that reflects your unique tastes, from the food and flowers to the music.

The allure of exotic locations can be the perfect excuse for a more intimate wedding, with only close family and friends in attendance. While some loved ones may not be able to make the journey, the trend of having two receptions is gaining popularity as a compromise.

As you contemplate marrying abroad, it’s essential to consider the local laws and regulations of your chosen destination. Some countries have residency requirements, but you can work around this by having a legal ceremony at home and a symbolic blessing abroad. Hiring a local wedding planner

becomes invaluable in navigating the complexities, as they can communicate with locals and key suppliers, turning your dream wedding into a reality. Opting for an English-speaking planner with in-depth knowledge of the area will be an asset.

When selecting a date for your wedding abroad, take into account the local seasonal weather conditions. The allure of guaranteed good weather is undeniable, but understanding the climate during your chosen time is vital. Additionally, pay attention to local public holidays and festivals, as they may impact accommodation prices and the availability of services you wish to use.

Despite the logistical considerations, marrying abroad offers a magical and unique adventure, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. The opportunity to celebrate in a dream location, surrounded by the love of your closest friends and family, is an experience that transcends borders and makes your special day truly extraordinary.

A MID - AUTUMN NIGHT’S
Photographer - Elizabeth Rose | Flowers - Limewood Flowers | Makeup - Hannah Dora

A wedding in any season is beautiful, but autumnal ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular for several reasons. Firstly, the colours. Trees turn every shade of gold, ivy blazes red and orange, there are conkers on the ground and berries on the bushes, it’s a much richer, moodier colour palette than any other season and a stunning backdrop for photos.

Secondly, there’s a quality of light especial to this season that’s akin to pouring golden syrup over the whole day. It’s thicker, warmer light, you can see it trickling through gaps in the trees and clinging to the hair and clothes of the guests, making everyone look faintly angelic. And finally, aesthetics and great seasonal food aside, it makes a lot of financial sense. Core wedding season takes place in the sharp, bright light of summer, so the nearer to winter you dare to plan for, the more economic the venue, flowers, catering and décor become.

We chose a date according the when the Virginia Creeper on our venue, Wootton Hall in Ulceby, would be the deepest shade of red. 15th October in case you’re wondering. We knew we had to choose Wootton Hall as soon as we pulled up to the long drive to the 18th century country house. Or the decision might have been made when my fiancé spied the golf course through the bushes. So many venues are a choice of menu A, B or C, but at Wootton Hall, the award-winning chef promised he’d cook literally whatever we wanted.

Every detail of the house and grounds was meticulously curated and looked after. We fell in love with the relaxed, dark wood barn with crumbling brickwork, the all-white ballroom, and mostly, with the quintessential walled garden. A walled garden that we would stubbornly insist on staging an openair ceremony in, with no weather contingency whatsoever. In mid-October. Thankfully the weather gods were on our side.

We decided to go with a local eco florist, Limewood Flowers (Fran Smith), who only uses local in-season blooms and sustainable materials. The broad brushstrokes brief we gave her was ‘peaches, autumnal hues, and lots of greenery’, and we ended up with bouquets packed with interesting shapes, from spikey petals to asymmetric twig arrangements, all shades of autumn. She garlanded the beams in the barn with greenery, weaving in miniature crab apples and berries, giving everything a Midsummer Night’s Dream effect. A tumbling arch of flowers over the garden gate and a wildflower meadow aisle through the grass were the perfect accents to the ceremony.

It’s hard to choose a dress for a season where sometimes it snows, and sometimes it’s milder than June. I had dreamt of a 1940s romantic dress with gathered cuffs and a sweetheart neckline. Something Ophelia might have worn as she floated about in a lily pond. Sadly, I have a figure that even the wedding stylist had to agree looked frumpy in swathes of material, so I went for a simple champagne silk slip from London-based designer Andrea Hawkes. With eight bridesmaids, and eight different fashion senses to cater for, I gave everyone the choice of their own bridesmaid dress with the only stipulation that it had to be a shade of green. Our makeup artist, Nottinghamshire-based Hannah Dora, then made sure we all looked suitably glowy to top it off.

Playing into the seasonal theme, we served mulled cider before the vows, giving everyone something warm to hold in case the sun went in. Our menu included honey-drizzled

halloumi, chicken tagine, and apple and blackberry crumble with brown bread ice cream. Wanting to be a little different, we chose Crémant to go in the beautiful cut crystal coupes, with a spiced rum or basil gin cocktail option after dinner.

One thing my new husband was insistent on was a live band. My immovable was a string quartet playing pop songs throughout the ceremony and drinks reception. Something we both agreed was important was a DJ. And at a wedding two months before our own, we realised we also couldn’t envision a successful dancefloor without a saxophonist. Hence our wedding become a musical medley, where the supremely talented Strings Infusion from Leeds played me down the aisle to a Bidgertonesque rendition of Taylor Swift, our incredible band Flood the Floor got the entire wedding packed onto the dance floor, and a DJ and sax combo team ended the night on a high.

Throughout the day we also peppered fun photo moments like a champagne (well, Crémant) tower, the obligatory confetti moment, and the increasingly popular sparkler tunnel that we executed when it was dark enough to see all the sparks but before our guests were too drunk to safely wield an open flame. Choosing a photographer was, for me, the biggest supplier decision. To complement the hues of autumn, I wanted someone with a warm editing style, that would make the greens richer and deeper, the browns and oranges softer, and capture some of that end-of-year haziness. I found the perfect photographer in Lincolnshirebased Elizabeth Rose. Not only were her shots gorgeous, but she shared my view that a laborious list of group shots are tedious to capture and not that fun to look at afterwards, so spent the day instead zipping around immortalising small, lovely, natural moments between guests.

Banking on an Indian summer for an autumn wedding is a risk, but there are so many reasons why I love an October event. Even if it had rained, the flowers and the seasonal food, the cosiness, and how beautiful a zillion candles look as dusk falls make it a magical time to say I do.

GOWN YOUR PERFECT BRIDAL

Your wedding dress is the centerpiece of your dream day, and finding the perfect one is a thrilling yet challenging task.

For those without a well-defined waist, an empire line dress with a skirt flowing from under the bust to the floor can be an elegant choice.

With an abundance of styles available, regardless of your shape or size, you are sure to find something that makes you feel stunning and confident on your special day. When shopping for your dress, remember that you may receive many opinions from friends and family who accompany you. However, the most important opinion is your own. Find a dress that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful, irrespective of others’ views. This is your day, and you deserve to shine in the dress of your dreams.

As you embark on this journey, keep an open mind, as the dress you envisioned may not be the one that suits you best. Consider your budget, including alterations, and carefully think about your body shape and any potential changes you may undergo before the big day.

For Tall Brides:

If you’re tall and slender, simplicity and structure are your allies. Embrace short cut dresses to showcase your long legs, or opt for a slinky style with a high neckline. To enhance your curves, explore ball gowns, sweetheart necklines, and strategic embellishments.

For Petite Brides:

A simple, long, and fitted gown, like a straight sheath dress, can work wonders for petite brides. If you prefer a more traditional look, an A-line skirt with the waistline slightly above your natural one can create the illusion of a taller silhouette. Delicate detailing on the upper part of the dress can also be flattering.

Consider your waistline when choosing a dress, as different styles can have a dramatic impact on your overall appearance. Whether you have a defined waist or not, there are plenty of options to suit your preferences. If you have a small waist, consider a fitted dress like a mermaid style to highlight your curves.

THE GUIDE TO BRIDAL

LINGERIE

Bridal underwear requires just as much careful planning as the attire you wear on top of it. Your choices for wedding lingerie will heavily depend on the type of dress you will be wearing.

For the best fit and selection, consider visiting a specialist lingerie shop. A trained bra fitter can ensure you are wearing the correct bra size (as many women unknowingly wear the wrong size) and offer guidance on the most suitable underwear for your dress. They can even demonstrate the correct way to put on a bra—yes, there is a proper technique!

Remember that not all lingerie brands will fit the same, so don’t be discouraged if your first choice doesn’t work. Lingerie companies design their clothing based on fit models with specific breast and back shapes, which means different brands may cater to different body types. Take the time to explore various brands to find the one that suits you best, or seek advice from a specialist lingerie shop to discover the most flattering options.

While looking your best is important, comfort should not be overlooked. Prioritize lingerie that makes you feel comfortable and at ease, allowing you to relax and enjoy your special day feeling beautiful and confident. With the right fit and comfort, your bridal lingerie will enhance both your appearance and your overall experience, ensuring you feel amazing throughout your wedding day.

THE GLOWING

BRIDE

Bridal beauty holds immense importance as you strive to look perfect on your special day. With all eyes on you and countless photos to be taken, looking your best is a top priority.

Your bridal look should be a true reflection of your authentic style. While some brides opt for more makeup than usual, the trend of minimalistic beauty is gaining popularity, showcasing your natural features without heavy contouring. This look, made famous by several royal brides, involves using a lightweight foundation to achieve a fresh and radiant appearance.

Bronzed eyelids are currently a sought-after choice for the perfect wedding day look, complementing all skin tones and accentuating the beauty of your eyes. A modern twist on the classic smoky eye, the bronze eye shadow adds allure to your overall appearance.

Another popular trend is to swap heavy blusher for a touch of highlighter, creating a radiant and glowing bridal look while maintaining a simple and natural charm.

For brides seeking a bolder statement, a dramatic lip colour can be an excellent choice. Consider swapping the traditional pretty pink lip for a rich plum shade, particularly ideal for weddings in the colder months. Paired with glowing, natural skin and minimal eye makeup, a darker lip can create a striking contrast.

Preparing for your wedding also offers the perfect opportunity for pampering yourself with facials, massages, and other beauty treatments to ensure you look and feel your best. Establishing a consistent skincare routine, especially if you have sensitive skin, is vital. Drinking plenty of water daily is an easy and effective way to keep your skin clear and radiant.

Prioritize your overall health and fitness by staying active and consulting with a fitness instructor to address any specific areas you wish to improve. A healthy and strong body will boost your confidence and radiate naturally on your big day.

When it comes to tanning, cautious preparation is essential. If opting for a spray tan, exfoliate your skin beforehand and try different salons to find the perfect shade and application density. Schedule your final tan two days before the wedding for the best results.

Don’t forget to care for your hands, as they will be in the spotlight when the ring is slipped on your finger. Regular manicures in the months leading up to the wedding will leave your hands soft and your nails attractive.

Likewise, pamper your feet to endure the long wedding day and dancing. Regular pedicures will ensure your feet are in top condition, free from dry or hard skin, and ready to shine in your sandals.

By following these beauty tips and investing in self-care, you’ll exude natural radiance and confidence as the blushing bride on your special day.

MUMS THE

WORD

with the right approach, you can shine on this special day.

Give yourself plenty of time to decide and avoid locking into a choice too early, as you might change your mind several times before settling on the ideal ensemble.

It’s common for some women to feel that certain dresses are “too young” for them or that showing shoulders or legs may not be “age-appropriate.” However, on this momentous occasion, your clothing should reflect your personality, and you should feel comfortable and confident in whatever you choose to wear, even if it means showing a little skin.

Traditionally, mothers coordinate with the bridesmaids by choosing similar colour schemes, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Don’t shy away from bold colours that will beautifully contrast with a light wedding dress, allowing you to express your vibrant personality. On the other hand, a metallic or neutral outfit will always complement any bridesmaid colour scheme, adding a touch of radiance to your entire look.

Accessories play a vital role in completing your ensemble, so consider adding a hat or fascinator to tie everything together. For patterned dresses, picking a colour featured

in the design will create a seamless look. Additionally, you may have the option to get your chosen hat or fascinator and clutch dyed to match your outfit perfectly.

While expressing your individuality is crucial, it’s equally important to consider the bride and groom’s opinions, as it is their special day, and they determine the tone of the wedding. Coordinate your outfit with the overall ambiance and formality chosen by the couple. Take into account the wedding venue as well, ensuring you dress appropriately for the setting, such as bringing a jacket for an outdoor celebration or opting for more modest attire for a church wedding.

Ultimately, as the mother of the bride or groom, you play an essential role in this joyous occasion, and your outfit should strike the perfect balance of elegance and individuality. By embracing your unique style while respecting the wedding’s overall tone, you’ll undoubtedly make a lasting impression and be a radiant presence on this unforgettable day.

TIME TO SHINE

When preparing for your big day, choosing the right jewellery is essential to make the bride feel beautiful and perfectly accessorised.

Timeless classics are a safe bet as they ensure that your bridal style will remain fashionable and elegant, standing the test of time.

THE VEIL The veil is an iconic bridal accessory that should complement the shade and style of your gown without stealing the spotlight. Choose a sheer veil if you want to showcase the back of your dress. Longer waltz or floor-length veils can elongate a petite frame, while midlength styles like fingertip or elbow length veils work well for taller brides. Short styles like birdcage or bandeau veils add a fun, retro vibe to your gown and suit all shapes and sizes.

HAIR ACCESSORIES Many brides are opting for hair combs or sparkling hairpins to transform a simple hairstyle into a dainty and dramatic updo. Consider your hair type when choosing the right accessory, as delicate pieces may work well for fine hair, while more substantial options are better suited for thick waves.

THE DRESS Always choose your dress before deciding on jewellery. The dress you end up selecting might be different from what you initially imagined, so waiting to get the additional details is a wise move. Avoid splurging on a statement necklace if your dress has an embellished or lace neckline.

BE UNDERSTATED Bridal jewellery should be slightly understated to avoid upstaging your dress. Opt for a simple and elegant bracelet to adorn your hands, as they will feature prominently in wedding day shots. Delicate dropped earrings complement an updo, while a curled, loose hairstyle might not do them justice.

MIX OLD, BORROWED, AND NEW Incorporating heirloom pieces, borrowed or gifted from relatives, can look wonderful alongside contemporary classic jewellery. Avoid mixing metals, and choose either silver or gold. A traditional combination of earrings and a bracelet can be a beautiful choice for your wedding day.

DARE TO BE COLOURFUL You don’t need to stick to silver, gold, or neutral tones. Adding a pop of colour with jewellery is a subtle way to enliven a classic colour palette. Consider matching your gemstones to details in the wedding, such as bridesmaids’ dresses or groomsmen’s ties, to bring your theme together in a sophisticated way.

THE RINGS Wedding rings hold immense importance for your big day as they symbolize undying love and the continuity of life throughout your marriage. Choose the perfect wedding rings that suit your style and symbolize the eternal bond between you and your partner. These rings will be a constant reminder of your love and commitment throughout your married life.

THE PERFECT CONFETTI MOMENT

The confetti moment is one of the most sharable photographs from your day. It’s effortlessly beautiful, natural and candid. We know everyone loves to throw confetti, so you can guarantee your guests will be smiling too! We’ve popped together our top five tips when it comes to planning your confetti moment.

1. Choose the right confetti.

Petal confetti is preferred by most churches and wedding venues due to its biodegradable qualities and kindness to nature. Delphiniums and wildflowers are perfect as their petals are petite, and will delicately float to the ground slowly, giving your photographer more time to capture the perfect shot.

2. Order enough confetti for your guests

Always provide confetti for your guests, the more confetti you have, the more impactful the moment. 1 litre of petal confetti is enough for around 10-12 handfuls. So, if you have got 100 guests, 10 litres of petals will be perfect to give you that complete shower of confetti. If you need a little more reassurance, we have a useful confetti calculator on our website to guide you.

3. Discuss the shot with your photographer

Have a chat to your photographer beforehand to make sure you are on the same page when it comes to your confetti moment. They will be able to offer great insight and advice on the right location, timing, and how your guests should stand.

4. Showcase your confetti

Choosing how to display your confetti is unique to your day, there is so much fun you can have with this. From personalised confetti cones to wands, sachets and baskets, you can get as creative as you like. Ask your bridal party to offer your guests a handful of confetti and remind them to throw high to get the full shower effect!

5. Have an absolute blast

The confetti moment is the start of the party, have fun with it! Whether you are walking through a tunnel of guests, or having a more staged confetti throw, enjoy this moment and celebrate with a smile, laughter, and of course a kiss at the end!

FLOWER GUIDE WEDDING

Your wedding bouquet is an essential element that completes your bridal look, so getting it just right is crucial. With our helpful guide, you’re sure to find the perfect bouquet style that ties your entire look together flawlessly.

POMANDER BOUQUETS

For a unique and eye-catching bouquet, consider the pomander arrangement. Flowers are fashioned into perfect round spheres, and a ribbon handle is added at the top for easy carrying or displaying. This bouquet is a perfect choice if you’re looking for something oneof-a-kind. Alternatively, pomander bouquets work wonderfully for flower girls, as they can be easily held.

CRESCENT BOUQUETS

Ideal for more petite brides, crescent bouquets are often smaller in size, but they can be adjusted to match your desired style. This distinctive bouquet shape features one or two types of larger flowers at the top middle section, with longer, finer flowers gracefully garnishing the ends of the crescent.

ACCESSORISE WITH FLOWERS

Once you’ve selected your bouquet, consider incorporating flowers as accessories to enhance your overall look. For a dreamy and romantic touch, add flowers to your hair. A beautiful floral hairpiece can elevate your style and add a natural, ethereal vibe to your appearance. Alternatively, opt for a wrist corsage for a playful and charming accessory that complements your wedding ensemble.

CASCADE BOUQUETS

Make a bold style statement with a cascade bouquet featuring a waterfall of flowers flowing down the front. Vines and orchids work wonderfully in this arrangement, adding a touch of rustic charm. To ensure all eyes are on your bouquet, pair it with a simple gown and watch the wow factor come to life.

POSY BOUQUETS

For a classic and elegant look, opt for a posy bouquet with a collection of flowers arranged in a traditional round shape. While creating a stunning ball of blooms, this bouquet remains small enough to be easily held. Add a touch of glamour by intertwining delicate crystals or pearls within the flowers and finish the look with ribbons cascading from the bouquet’s end.

With these flower options and accessory ideas, you can create a truly enchanting and personalized wedding look that reflects your style and beauty on your special day.

A STUNNING ENSEMBLE OF

INDIVIDUALITY

Selecting the perfect bridesmaid dresses involves careful thought and consideration. You want each of your bridesmaids to feel and look amazing while ensuring their attire complements your dress and the overall theme of the wedding.

There are numerous ways to achieve this, particularly if you prefer a less uniform look among your bridesmaids. Instead of perfectly matching dresses, consider providing a specific colour palette and allowing each bridesmaid to choose their own dress style within that range of colours. For example, you could opt for shades from light to bright blue, accommodating each person’s body shape and skin tone. Even with individual styles, you can maintain cohesion by keeping one element consistent, such as the length, neckline, or shade.

Currently, a popular trend is for bridesmaids to wear separates. This offers an opportunity to infuse fun into their outfits by playing with colours and fabrics. You can experiment with various details like pleats and gathers to achieve unique looks for each bridesmaid.

Another wonderful way to ensure your bridesmaids are delighted with their dresses is to opt for multi-

way bridesmaid dresses. These versatile dresses can be worn in various styles, while maintaining a consistent colour and fabric. This allows each bridesmaid to feel special and unique in her outfit while still coordinating with the rest of the wedding party.

Feel free to mix things up with different length dresses to ensure each bridesmaid feels comfortable and confident in her attire. There are no strict rules on how your bridesmaids should dress, and they don’t all have to wear identical outfits. Embrace their individual styles and colour preferences, as this will enhance their confidence and make them shine on your special day.

In the end, the key is to strike a balance between cohesiveness and individuality, creating a stunning ensemble of bridesmaids that complements your vision for the wedding. With creativity and an open mind, you can ensure your bridesmaids feel extraordinary as

EXPRESSING YOUR

STYLE

While the allure of classic choices like a Bentley or Rolls Royce is undeniable, you can infuse your personality into the experience, making it more than just a formal affair. Consider adding a touch of fun and uniqueness to the journey by opting for unconventional options like a horse and carriage or even a charming tractor ride.

Transportation is a significant part of your wedding budget, especially if you choose elaborate options like classic cars or horse-drawn carriages. But rest assured, reputable companies in this industry often offer top-notch services and decorations at reasonable costs, ensuring a memorable and smooth ride on your big day.

When planning your transport arrangements, remember to consider who needs transportation. Typically, the bride, her father, the bridesmaids, the mother of the bride, and even the flower girls will require transport to the ceremony. After the ceremony, ensure that you have adequate transportation for the bride and groom as well as the wedding party, ensuring everyone can smoothly move between venues if your celebration is at multiple locations.

If your wedding requires travel between venues, it’s essential to think about the convenience of your guests as well. Consider arranging local transportation options like route master buses or other suitable vehicles so that your guests can travel together comfortably. On the other hand, if the distance is short or arranging transportation for all guests is impractical, ensure that there is ample parking available, so everyone can conveniently access the venue.

Ultimately, your wedding transport is an opportunity to make a statement and create a lasting impression. By choosing transportation that reflects your personalities and considering the needs of your guests, you can ensure a seamless and enjoyable journey on your special day.

GROOMING TIPS FOR MEN ON THEIR WEDDING DAY

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, or it is to your partner at least! Either way, you have a responsibility to make sure you look your best. It’s only for a day, so make the effort. You can slide straight back into your comfy jeans and hide under your favourite cap soon.

Getting prepped doesn’t have to be a drag either. Below, the team from leading men’s grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge have put together some simple – but effective – styling tips to get you through the big day!

BOOK YOURSELF IN FOR A WET SHAVE

Head down to your local barbershop with your groomsmen for a traditional wet shave before your wedding day: the hot towels will help your complexion, while a traditional cutthroat razor promises to offer a close shave that’s very hard to achieve with cartridge razors at home. Make sure your barber uses a post-shave balm to soothe the skin and reduce redness and irritation too.

DON’T LEAVE YOUR HAIRCUT TOO LATE

It doesn’t matter if you’re drastically changing your style (we don’t recommend this!) or just keeping things tidy; make sure you book in to see your barber a week before your wedding. Giving yourself a solid seven days means your new haircut can settle in, making it look more natural. Go for a timeless style as well – that way your wedding photos will never look too dated and you can avoid embarrassing future conversations: “Is that a bowl cut!?”

WASH YOUR HAIR PROPERLY

Men often neglect shampoo and conditioner, but they are essential grooming products for balancing the production of sebum oil, which causes greasy hair. Every man needs a bespoke regime when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, as sebum oil is produced at different speeds depending on the person. Washing your hair with each product on a daily basis should be sufficient for most. You don’t want greasy hair on your wedding day, do you?

DEAL WITH EXCESS HAIRS

No, not down there – although that might need a little manscaping as well!

Go the extra mile and ask your barber to trim your nose hair, pluck or thread your eyebrows, and sort out your sprouting ears. These grooming procedures are common practice for barbers now, so there’s no shame in asking.

SHOW YOUR BEARD SOME LOVE

If you’re a man with a beard, make sure you trim the unruly fuzz before the big day. Beards can get messy quickly, so do this right up until the big day. Use a beard oil and comb as well to soften your facial hair and leave it smelling strong.

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SKIN

Your skin is your largest organ and deserves to be pampered. Drink plenty of water in the build up to your wedding to keep your skin hydrated. It’s also worth using a face scrub to remove dirt and oil from deep inside the skin’s pores for a complexion that glows with confidence. Finish with a moisturiser to lock in all that goodness.

CLEAN AND CLIP YOUR NAILS

Lots of men get so caught up thinking about their suit, shoes and tie that they forget to sort the simple things. It takes no time at all to cut and clean your nails, but it’ll make all the difference.

APPLY COLOGNE PROPERLY

Whether it’s sweet or musky, make sure you wear cologne on your wedding day. Applying your favourite fragrance is an art: regulate the number of spritzes to just one or two and dip your finger into the cologne to evenly distribute the scent. Consider the wrists, neck and chest as grooming hotspots.

Formal wear doesn’t have to be dull and boring; you can infuse your personality into your wedding attire. Adding a splash of colour with a tie, bowtie, handkerchief, or boutonniere that matches your theme allows you to showcase your individuality.

Customizing your suit with a patterned lining is another way to create your own style and be true to yourself. Enhance your look with a watch or belt, as men’s wedding fashion often benefits from a less-is-more approach. To make a bold statement, consider wearing a tie pin or unique cufflinks. Personalized or novelty accessories for the groomsmen are gaining popularity, adding a unique touch to your wedding ensemble and displaying your individuality.

Rented suits can be an option if you prefer not to buy one, but keep in mind that it may limit your options and the fit may not be perfect, affecting your comfort on the big day.

Deciding on the formality of your attire is essential, as traditional wear may not suit your wedding style. Shorter grooms should opt for a short jacket to maintain their height and flatter their figure. Morning suits are the most formal option, suitable for church weddings or formal civil ceremonies, often paired with a waistcoat. For a more comfortable and less formal look, classic everyday suits offer a variety of styles and colours to choose from, giving you more freedom to showcase your style. Coordinate the groom’s party’s ties with the groom, rather than matching the bridesmaids’ dresses, for a distinctive touch.

Dinner suits have become a popular choice for daytime weddings, offering a range of fabrics and colours to suit your style. You can even opt for a white dinner suit jacket to complement your bride and create a wow factor.

For less formal weddings, especially in colder months, consider a tweed suit. It provides a smart yet relaxed look and is perfect for those who dislike traditional suits, fitting seamlessly with rustic country barn weddings.

For men and boys looking to purchase or hire suits in Lincolnshire and surrounding areas, Hancocks Menswear in Grimsby offers a selection of suits, shoes, and accessories. Find sleek, understated styles with formal and patterned fabrics to make a statement on your wedding day.

WEDDING CAKES WITH PERSONALITY

Although a classic white fondant cake may be the most obvious option for your wedding, there are as many different options for cakes as there are for dresses and venues - and you shouldn’t neglect to consider your other choices if your heart isn’t set on the typical wedding cake.

The fashion of maximalist and vintage-style wedding cakes is making a comeback, giving you many more options and styles to choose from being produced in the mainstream wedding cake industry. These cakes can be kitschy and 50s-esque or classic and timeless depending on what you’re looking for. Wedding cakes can adhere to any style you choose so long as you give your baker enough time to design and bake your dream cake. Many cake makers need 2 to 3 months’ notice, especially for larger cakes.

However if you’re not in the market for the overpiped vintage lambeth cake and you’re looking for a more rustic style, you might consider a “naked cake”, which, as the name implies, leaves the sponge and interior icing exposed. These kinds of cakes are often decorated with fruits and flowers for a very classical feel and the simplicity of the cake means that it can be enjoyed by all guests without being too rich for those with less of a sweet tooth.

Another good option for a rustic cake would be to use textured buttercream instead of the typical fondant. This still creates a rustic feel, while looking more fully decorated if you aren’t a fan of the entirely naked cake style.

Of course, none of these styles are essential to you having a wedding cake which shows off your unique personality, as you can use a classic tiered cake as a base on which to add further embellishment and decoration, be it flowers, piped icing, dripped

ganache or sugar art! Wedding cake options are almost endless and your cake should be personal to you and tailored to what you want - you don’t even necessarily need to have a cake. For example, many couples at the moment are opting for the “cheese cake”, a tiered selection of cheeses which can be served with biscuits, cured meats, or fruit and others have been utilising cupcake tiers instead of a typical tiered sponge cake, as they are considerably easier to serve to guests. Your cake has the potential to be as unique as you are!

CAPTURING THE MEMORIES

Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and capturing its essence through photography is crucial to preserve the cherished memories. A picture-perfect wedding album allows you to relive those magical moments for years to come.

Just as with your transport, there are no strict rules when it comes to wedding photography. You have the freedom to express yourselves and choose a style that resonates with your personalities as a couple. Whether you prefer classic poses, candid shots, or creative angles, the possibilities are limitless.

Choosing a skilled wedding photographer is vital to ensure that your precious memories are captured flawlessly. Classic choices like a Bentley or a Rolls Royce can be a delightful addition to your wedding photos, adding a touch of elegance to the visual narrative. However, you can also use your chosen mode of transport to showcase your unique style and personality as a couple, allowing for more creative and unconventional photo opportunities. Whether you opt for a horse and carriage, a vintage bicycle, or even a rustic tractor, it’s an opportunity to inject fun and uniqueness into your wedding album.

While wedding photography is undoubtedly an investment, it is one that will stand the test of time. Couples often allocate a substantial portion of their budget to secure top-quality photography services. Choosing reputable photographers with a fantastic track record ensures that your special day is beautifully documented, complete with all the decorative elements that make it unique and memorable.

As you plan your wedding day logistics, don’t forget to consider the transportation needs for various key moments. From the bride and her father to the bridesmaids, the mother of the bride, and the flower girls, make sure everyone has convenient transportation to the ceremony and beyond. After the ceremony, ensure that transportation arrangements are in place for the bride and groom, as well as the wedding party, especially if you have multiple venues for different parts of the celebration.

If your wedding day involves travel between venues, take your guests’ convenience into account. Providing local transport options, like route master buses or other suitable vehicles, allows your guests to travel together comfortably, enhancing the overall experience. On the other hand, if distances are short or arranging transportation for all guests is impractical, ensure ample parking at the venues to facilitate easy access for everyone.

In conclusion, wedding photography is an art that immortalizes the beauty and joy of your special day. By choosing the right photographer and capturing every moment, you can create a picture-perfect wedding album that will bring smiles to your faces for a lifetime.

CELEBRATING

BROTHERHOOD

The modern approach to stag parties

Stag nights, also known as bachelor parties or buck’s parties, have been a long standing tradition for grooms-to-be to celebrate their upcoming nuptials with their closest friends. While the essence of stag nights remains intact – a night of revelry and camaraderie – the modern approach to these celebrations has evolved significantly. Gone are the days of clichéd antics; today’s stag nights embrace creativity, adventure, and meaningful experiences that create lasting memories.

Moving Beyond the Stereotypes:

Traditionally, stag nights were associated with wild and raucous escapades, centred around excessive drinking, strippers, and questionable decisions. However, modern grooms and their friends are redefining the concept of stag nights. Rather than adhering to outdated stereotypes, many choose to focus on creating a memorable experience that reflects the groom’s interests, passions, and personality.

Tailored Experiences:

JUST KEN

Ingredients

25m of simple syrup (made from equal parts sugar and hot water that you leave to cool - Google is your friend!)

Two 1/4 lemon wedges

1 to 2 sprigs of mint (depending on how minty you like things !)

75m Bourbon of choice (can go 50m if don’t like such a strong drink)

10m blue curacao (for colour) • Lots of ice!

Directions

Muddle the sugar syrup, the two ¼ lemon wedges and mint sprigs first of all into your cocktail mixing beaker

Then add your Bourbon of choice, (use a 50m if you don’t like such a strong drink) the blue curacao and plenty of ice

One of the key aspects of modern stag nights is personalization. Groomsmen now put in effort to tailor the celebrations to suit the groom’s preferences and tastes. Whether it’s an adrenaline-fuelled adventure weekend, a sportsthemed outing, a cultural excursion, or a relaxing retreat in nature, the focus is on crafting an experience that resonates with the groom.

Adventure and Bonding:

Many modern stag nights emphasize adventure and bonding over excessive drinking. Activities like camping, hiking, paintball, go-karting, or even an escape room challenge provide opportunities for bonding, teamwork, and shared excitement. These adventures forge stronger connections among friends and create memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Destination Stag Nights:

Destination stag nights have become increasingly popular, offering an opportunity for the groom and his friends to explore new places together. Whether it’s a beach getaway, a city break, or an exotic international destination, the adventure of travel adds an extra layer of excitement to the celebrations.

Meaningful Experiences:

Use your stirrer and stir for 30-50 seconds (taste as you go!) Then pour your cocktail through your strainer and into a chilled glass

Add ice to your liking and some mint to garnish

Beyond the revelry, many stag nights now incorporate meaningful experiences. Some grooms choose to use this occasion as an opportunity to give back to the community or engage in charitable activities. From volunteering at local organizations to organizing fundraisers for a cause close to the groom’s heart, these experiences add a sense of purpose and fulfillment to the celebration. Wedding entertainment plays a crucial role in creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for both the newlyweds and their guests. From music to interactive fun, couples have a plethora of entertainment options to choose from to make their special day even more magical.

Musical Delights:

Music is an integral part of any wedding celebration. Couples can opt for live performances by local bands, string quartets, or talented pianists, adding an elegant and soulful touch to the atmosphere. These artists can accompany the ceremony, set the mood during the reception, and keep the dance floor buzzing during the after-party. For those who prefer a diverse playlist, professional DJs are equipped with an extensive selection of tracks to keep everyone grooving to the rhythm.

Capturing Joyful Moments:

To capture the essence of their wedding day and create lasting memories, couples can explore unique photography ideas. A photo booth is a delightful addition, offering an interactive and fun space for guests to strike poses with wedding-themed props and speech bubbles. A caricaturist can add an artistic touch, creating humorous and personalized sketches of guests that will leave everyone smiling. Couples can also consider having a personalized Instagram board, encouraging guests to share their candid moments on social media.

Sparkling Memories: Fireworks displays add a touch of magic and awe to

any wedding celebration. A spectacular fireworks show entertains guests of all ages and provides incredible photo opportunities. Couples can also create unforgettable memories with sparklers, inviting guests to participate in forming heart shapes or writing the couple’s new initials. These luminous moments make for stunning photographs and cherished memories.

Magic and Laughter:

For a touch of enchantment and amusement, hiring a magician or illusionist is a popular choice for wedding entertainment. These skilled performers interact with guests, creating a sense of wonder and laughter, and ensuring that everyone feels enchanted by the evening’s magic.

The First Dance:

The first dance is a cherished moment for the couple and their guests. Whether it’s a romantic slow dance or an upbeat and energetic routine, the choice of the first dance song should reflect the couple’s unique love story. It’s an opportunity to share a heartfelt and personal moment with loved ones, and to set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

STATIONERY

SAVE THE DATE!

Your “save the date” and wedding invitation cards are some of the first big things that you as an engaged couple are going to need to plan out, so choosing the right stationery to set the mood for your special day is pivotal.

Along with listing the time, date and location of your wedding the invitations should also hint at the formality of the event.

You can find wedding stationery in online shops, however we recommend for a more personalised experience that you find a wedding stationery designer if it is within your budget - wedding stationery is often overlooked, although, for your guests, it is the first insight they will receive into what your wedding is going to be like and should create excitement and anticipation for your big day.

Ensuring that you have someone providing the attention to detail to your stationery is an extra touch that makes your invitations that extra bit special with an understanding of the personal elements that come with your special day.

With a stationery planner, your stationery will flow seamlessly from your save the date cards all the way to your table plan and place names, creating a cohesive atmosphere sure to please your guests who will keep the stationery as a keepsake of your wedding. You should order your menus, programs and thank you notes with your invitations. That way, your stationery bought in bulk saves you money, time and worry as well as providing a cohesive look even if you decide to make the design slightly varied for each piece.
