Different Types of Modeling A model is a person who has an important job to either promote, display or advertise commercial products, more notably fashion clothing. A model serve as a visual aid for people creating work of art, be it in fashion clothing, accessory, a brand, a commodity or a product. There are various forms of modeling out there. From runway modeling to commercial modeling, the field is diverse. If you are an aspiring model, knowledge of different types of modeling is crucial. Without this crucial bit of information, you won’t be able to understand what you are exactly looking for. This article will be bring you a brief description of various forms of modeling. Fashion modeling: this type of modeling is often referred as runway modeling. Runway models are hired by fashion designers and the assistant to wear their clothes down the runway to present them for the first time in public. High fashion modeling often extends to magazine spreads, where models wear the couture of designers as a form of advertisement. Fashion designers demand a distinguished look and personality from their models. Perhaps, this is why runway modeling is considered the toughest among other forms of modeling. It is all about the look of the season, and what a designer is looking for as well. Ideally, high fashion models are girls with high cheekbones, long necks and square jaws. Fashion modeling is also one of the highest paid forms of modeling. Glamour Modeling: Glamour models pose for magazines. The requirements from a glamour model depend on magazine to magazine. Models pose in magazine like Maxim and Stuff magazine. Such magazines will see a lot of implied shots and glamour models in lingerie. Many models even participate in promotional tradeshows and automobile events. Plus Size Modeling: Many Texas model management agencies work with plus size models. Plus size models usually work for plus size stores and divisions. In fact, fashion designers have even started doing plus size runway shows as it appeals to a large part of the population. A plus size model usually has broad shoulders and a big boned structure with strong and classic features. Child Modeling: In this line of work, a model is most likely to get assignments for commercial or print work and catalogues. Modeling agencies for kids even offer other work relating to high fashion, in case you fit the height and weight criteria. However, in case of catalogue modeling for children there is lesser constriction to requirements. Other forms of modeling include mature modeling, body part modeling (hand, foot, neck, wrists etc), male modeling, catalogue modeling, showroom modeling, fit modeling, promotional modeling and editorial modeling.
