H I S D Te a c h e r s to Get Pay Raise
By Wade Thibodeaux Huntsville ISD Board of Trustees met in regular session on Thursday, May 20, 2021 and approved a substantial pay raise for all returning employees at the District. The board approved a 5% pay raise and a one time $1000.00 merit pay for each returning employee. Also approved in the compensation plan was a one time hiring bonus for hard to fill positions. Superintendent Scott Sheppard com-
mented that the compensation plan had been adjusted for the retention of existing employees and also for growth for the future of the District. He also commented that this increase was made possible due to the recent bond election that freed up considerable money in the budget that would have been used for maintenance of the aging facilities, but instead was able to be budgeted for employee compensation.
