Synopsis

The Return

Flying over the desert was such a thrill that Jasmine and Aladdin had almost forgotten about the evil that awaited them back home. Jafar has overtaken the kingdom in their absence and has hypnotized everyone to do his bidding. Jafar spots the lamp and a struggle ensues for its possession. Aladdin barely manages to make his second wish in time and Jafar is doomed to become victim of his own paralyzing spell. The whole kingdom rejoices, but Aladdin has not forgotten about his third and nal wish… Everything Aladdin needs to be happy was already before his eyes, so he decides to use his nal wish in an act of true altruism. For all his power and magic, Genie was always a captive of the lamp and whoever possessed it, so Aladdin wishes to free Genie from the lamp, allowing her to live a life of empowerment and free will.

Letter from the Director

For thousands of years the shíshálh and Skwxwú7mesh people have stewarded this land, their own (unceded) traditional territory. We are grateful to gather on these lands and waters, and we work from a place of respect and responsibility to this gift.

Waldorf Ballet has been inspiring the youth of the Sunshine Coast to become the next generation of classically trained dance professionals. From as young as 3yrs old up to our pre-professional training levels we dedicate ourselves to offering the highest caliber training.

You can recognize a dancer who has studied at Waldorf Ballet by their solid technique, artistry, and most importantly by their outlook. We strive to nurture each student’s passion to explore and develop their artistic core, leading to great performances in dance and important tools to transfer to their lives outside the studios too.

There is no better way for a dancer to discover themselves and their voice than by training with educated and experienced staff and guests, dancing across the lower mainland with their peers, and engaging the coastal community with various roles in our story ballet performances. These experiences enhance their ability to communicate with confidence through artistic expression. It is not a coincidence that our young dancers are regularly awarded scholarships, accepted to prestigious summer and year round training programs, and also embrace leadership roles in other art forms, academia, and their extended communities.

We are very grateful for your support as our audience. Every time you enjoy a performance you are encouraging these talented artists and helping ensure their brilliant futures. The Waldorf Ballet staff and students have all poured their hearts into this production and we are extremely proud to share it with you! Enjoy
