No it isn’t fair, it was built for sport and should stay that way. Council should get their act together and start making plans for a venue suitable to host visiting acts, etc. What is wrong with them, it has been a bone of contention for a while now. Brenda Kenny.

Boo. If you live in Nelson, who seriously wants to go all the way out to Saxton for an event, have a few drinks then have to fight your way into a taxi and pay over $25 to get back home? No thank you. Lulu Armstrong. At the end of the day it’s a business, long term revenue will always take precedence. They’re going to earn less because of less “available slots” to sell. James Burnby.

Saxton Stadium: Very wrong that they didn’t put seats in Saxton at the start. Existing sports shouldn’t have to change to accommodate the big events. Existing are bread and butter long term, don’t diminish their value! Jay Park.

It wasn’t a business with long term revenue ideals. It’s just the situation its found itself in...they planned everything without Trafalgars business coming their way so it can’t really be just about revenue....theyre just filling the void. Short term I agree, long term I say no. The NCC need to think and act more urgently than what they are. Rayon Mackenzie.

water and toxic sprays - thus people who ate the fruit would be healthier - bleating on about water costs and thinking dams might be the go - is old industrial agri-cultural thinking - its the 21st century come into the light .....i am seriously serious about what i see as mass wastage by the farmers out here unity1nz (website).

Should have thought about long term needs when plans where made for this venue in my mind and in the grand scheme of things to add spectator areas to this venue would have paid off. As for spectator events taking over from other events we did without this venue for years when it came to club basketball so don’t see why other events/ clubs don’t yo back to the old setup which in some cases provided a better ‘club’ inclusion feel. Jeff Mahon.

Muddy Buddy: Not to be missed. Great event. Well done Tasman School and Muddy Buddy organizers. Judene Edgar.

Water use: Since moving out here to Redwood Valley I have seen so much industrial farming wastage -roads sheds trees being watered by high powered sprayers - this is the 21st century - industrial farming with its intense watering and high chemical spraying to make a crop viable for market is the WRONG way to farm and the costs are getting to high to support it. Take an apple or vineyard for example - using all the wood chip that farmers currently ‘burn’ off would lesson the rate of water usage, add a beehive and complementary herbs in the rows and you would create a higher juicer flavor with mini costs in both

I wish I was a kid again in Nelson. Glenda Buschl. It was a fantastic event, we all loved it! Thanks heaps. Lea Talbot. Great day just a pity [people] out there want to put a stop to the fun, so many kids with grins on their faces, out having fun and not sitting in front of a tv! Thanks to organisers, no thanks to the TDC!!! Steffan James. There’s always arseholes who want to ruin everyone’s day Steffan. Just laugh at them. Sad arses!! Janelle Thorpe. Property insights Your property appraisals, part 2 So, you have had your property appraisal completed and presented to you. How do you know if it is correct?

WANTED 3-4 bedroom home in Stoke for cash buyers up to $400,000

There should be a list of recent sales included in your appraisal that you can compare with your property. If there is not, then ask your agent why. Some properties are unique and have very special features or locations. They are one-off properties and there are no sales that can be used as a comparison.

Given the latest news about earthquake strengthening rules being relaxed to meet national guidelines (buildings now only have to meet 34% of building code, not 67% as previously), this may be a non-issue! No word yet on the effect the change will make to the Trafalgar Centre but hopefully it means it can re-open. Tania Brunell.

Your agent could use the replacement cost, less depreciation, method of evaluating the value of your property. They should be able to obtain the square metre size of your property, the average cost of building to the standard of your home, and then calculate that to obtain a value. There will be a depreciation factor to apply to the calculation, depending on

the age of the property and the condition. Comparing previous sales is the most common method of appraisals, however if we only used past sales to value property the property values would always be static. Someone has to set a new bench mark and it could be you and your property, so make sure that your agent has been diligent. Next Week: Property insurance
