CONSULTATION WITH PARENTS
W
e actively encourage a wide range of regular consultation with parents during the year. Parents look at and sign weekly, students’ Learning Journals, receive termly newsletters and yearly written reports as well being invited to attend Parents’ Evenings. We always welcome invitations from parents to visit school in order to discuss their child’s progress on matters causing concern. Since all staff have a full teaching timetable, we encourage everyone to ring school in advance for an appointment to speak to the most appropriate member of staff.

CHARGING & REMISSIONS POLICY
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE FIGURES
T
W
Certain highly desirable outings enjoyed by students cannot be funded by the school. It is hoped that these valuable trips will continue and parents will be asked to make a voluntary contribution towards them. In cases of hardship, assistance by the school may be considered. A full copy of the charging and remissions policy is available on request.
Parents are requested to arrange family holidays within the dates designated as official school holidays so that additional withdrawal from school does not have a detrimental effect upon a student’s academic progress.
here will be no charge for any field trips or visits that form an integral part of a Foundation Stage (Years 7 and 8) or GCSE examination course.
e place great emphasis upon the need for full regular attendance at school enabling students to take maximum advantage of opportunities available to them. Students are also expected to arrive punctually each day by 8.40am irrespective of mode of transport.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION & COLLECTIVE WORKSHOP
within the community. These agencies, including Halton Health Authority, support the work of the teaching staff.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
R
eligious Education is provided on a non-denominational basis in accordance with the 1998 Education Act and the Halton Agreed Syllabus. Students study a Religious Education course in both Key Stages. Religious Education ensures that students gain a thorough knowledge of Christianity reflecting the Christian heritage of this country and knowledge of other principal religions represented in Great Britain. In its wider context it promotes the development of the whole person and involves helping children to grow into responsible adults. All students take part in an act of Christian Worship each morning.
SEX EDUCATION POLICY
O
ur Sex Education Policy has been developed in line with guidelines from the Education Reform Act 1988 which states that the school curriculum should: a) promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of students at the school and of society
b) prepare such students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. Sex Education is incorporated within a wider curriculum programme and is a component of Personal and Social and Health Education, Moral Education and Science. Further input is given by members of external support agencies
W
e aim to ensure that students with special educational needs are identified, supported and guided throughout their school life. This will enable them to maximise their learning potential during the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 4 thus making a successful transition to adulthood and the world of further and higher education, training or work. Our guiding principle is one of inclusion. We want to identify and break down all possible barriers to learning. We value all the students in our school equally and ensure that each has access to a broad, balanced curriculum which is differentiated to meet their needs and abilities. We aim to offer high quality support to ensure that the needs of all pupils are met, through the Achievement Centre.
ACCESSIBILITY & DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT
T
he school accessibility plan is reviewed regularly in order to meet the needs and requirements of students, staff and visitors. Planning for the expanded Wade Deacon High School, took into account facilities required to assist access to the school by students with disabilities.
