Creating a Vision: Law of Attraction Style

by Suzanne Young

In Franklin D Roosevelt’s 1933 inaugural address he said, “There is nothing to fear but fear itself.”

I read this long before I was introduced to the Law of Attraction (LoA) so it really didn't have a lot of meaning to me because up until 2004, a big portion of my life was spent creating visions where I made choices and decisions based upon what other people said I needed to do to be successful.

Suddenly I was up for the challenge. For the next three years I set out to prove the LoA to myself. I selected various visions for my business and for my personal life. I kept practicing and observing myself as I manifested things I did and did not want. Finally, I began to understand how to consistently and effectively use the LoA to benefit me. I used to think I was a victim of bad luck, good luck, or potluck. What helped me turn the corner and move away from these disempowering old habits of thought was that I now held myself accountable for creating all my experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Several years later I wrote a book in 2017 explaining how I turned this corner. Www.steppingintoalifeofjoy.com.

After fully embracing the concept that I created my own reality, creating a vision for my future became much more fun and enjoyable. Every New Year's Eve I create a new vision for myself and in 2021 it includes a life full of peace and harmony despite what was going on in the world (the pandemic was in full swing then). I wasn't sure how I was going to accomplish this but once I had a clear vision of what I wanted to experience–and it did not come from any other person's suggestions of what I should do–new ideas effortlessly started coming to me.

In September 2021 I was invited out to lunch with a girlfriend. Looking for a way to feel better during the pandemic we both decided we wanted to try something new that we've never done before. We each picked something different according to our desires.

#1 I decided to try journaling. After I had been journaling for about a month, another new idea came to me. #2 I decided to stop watching the news. After I stopped watching the negative news for a few weeks another thought came my way. #3 I decided I was going to do 5 to 10 minutes of meditation before I created any new visions for myself. I found a place where I could be alone by myself and sit quietly. During this time, I had an awareness. My gut instinct seemed to be telling me before I made decisions for any future visions that it would be very beneficial to do some deep belly breathing to help me move away from my overactive, fear-based, monkey mind and settle into my all-knowing, all-loving, heart space.

Each of these ideas came to me as I began establishing patterns that were self-empowering. The one that I feel benefited me the most was #3. When we choose to become quiet and listen to our inner guidance, we invite God/Source Energy in, to help us create a vision that can be easily attainable. How? Simply by following the breadcrumbs. God wants us to love ourselves as much as he does and he always wants the best for us so when he sees we are on a self-care and self-nourishing pathway he sends us those beautiful synchronicities that surprise and delight us and most importantly, move us one step at a time towards our future vision.

If your visions haven't always unfolded the way you hoped they would, my invitation is this: whenever you are feeling anxious, I invite you to reconnect with the life force energy of God by taking three to five, or more, deep belly breaths. As your anxiety subsides, and you begin to feel peaceful this is when you'll know you are in your heart space.

In this peaceful place you can hear your inner guidance/God speaking to you. It's also good to know that in this place you will never hear any fear-based thoughts, so heads up: if it doesn't feel good, it's not coming from God. LoA simply states that “like attracts like” so any decision made from our heart-space will always benefit us because God only communicates to us in the high frequency energy field of pure, unconditional love.

Happy spring! May we all have fun creating a vision for the remainder of 2025 that comes straight from our hearts.
