A LETTER FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL by Paul Amadio

If you’ve been to our school lately you know the green bus that stands guard over the entrance to campus. We like to use it as a billboard. In July, it sported a banner, designed by the Advancement Team, that declared our support for Black Lives Matter and tied it to the five founding principles. You know them: Academic Excellence, World Citizenship, Service to Others, Environmental Stewardship, and The Value of Physical Labor. The banner also included photos of students and staff, the hashtag #blacklivesmatter and a simple message: We Stand with You! One morning, we found it had been cut down. Though the act maddened us as a community, we chalked it up to random hooliganism. It wasn’t long before we hung up a replacement banner, proclaiming the same message “We Stand with You” and the hashtag #nojusticenopeace.
