CHECK YOUR BAG? A businessman was having a tough time lugging his lumpy, oversized travel bag onto the plane. Helped by a flight attendant, he finally managed to stuff it in the overhead bin. “Do you always carry such heavy luggage?” she sighed. “No more,” the man said. “Next time, I’m riding in the bag, and my partner can buy the ticket!”

The girl leaned over the counter and said, “Burrrrrr, gerrrrrr, Kiiiiing.”

BATS, ANYONE The frightened tourist: “Are there any bats in this cave?” The guide: “There were, but don’t worry. The snakes ate all of them.”

CAR TROUBLE

HOW DO YOU SAY THAT?

Wife: “There’s trouble with the car. It has water in the carburettor.”

Two tourists were driving through Louisiana. As they were approaching Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth until they stopped for lunch. As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the employee, “Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are ….very slowly?”

Husband: “Water in the carburettor? That’s ridiculous.” Wife: “I tell you the car has water in the carburettor.”

This Week’s Riddle: Has a blade of jagged cut. Keeps the quickest hand out shut. Goes in darkness. Wears a ring. One is quiet. Many sing. What is it?

Excerpts from “The Complete Tightwad Gazette” by Amy Dacyczyn, a.k.a. The Frugal Zealot ~~~~~~~~~~

Cold Roller Dear Amy, I do a lot of painting (walls and ceilings). I reuse the same roller by putting it in the freezer overnight covered with plastic. Just thaw to reuse. Elaine Levine Scarborough, Maine Air Freshener Dear Amy, We find that instead of using the highly perfumed and expensive room refreshers, we can easily get rid of unpleasant odors by simply light a match. We have not yet tried it as an underarm deodorant! Jim Spaulding Northfield, Massachusetts Saves on Shaves Dear Amy, My husband never believed me until he tried it, but drying your razor after you rinse it clean saves tons of shaves. The blades in my razor last for months. Marina Andrew Forest Lake, Minnesota Cleaning Solution Dear Amy, This was given to me by a home economic teacher. It is just as effective as any highpriced cleaning solution:

1/2 cup ammonia 1/3 cut vinegar Husband: “You don’t even know what a carburettor is. I’ll check it out. 2 Tbsp baking soda 1 gallon (3 3/4 litres) water Where’s the car” Wife: “In the pool.”
