Our Programmes

Who We Are VECO Indonesia is the Indonesian country office of the Belgian NGO, Vredeseilanden (VE). Vredeseilanden operates in 7 regions and 18 different countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe. The regional head office of VECO Indonesia is based in Denpasar and has field offices in Jakarta (Java), Parepare (Sulawesi), Labuan Bajo (Flores-Nusa Tenggara Timur) and Maumere (Flores-Nusa Tenggara Timur). Vredeseilanden seeks to contribute to viable livelihoods for organised family farmers through improved income from sustainable agriculture (SA). Through its development interventions, Vredeseilanden empowers family farmers as actors within the agricultural chain, from production to consumption. VECO Indonesia supports the development of sustainable agriculture chains, encompassing innovative sustainable agricultural practices for production, value adding of SA products, improved access to markets, and stimulating consumers to purchase products from SA chains. Furthermore, VECO Indonesia supports the advocacy of local and national level policies that favour the position of the organised family farmers practicing SA. VECO Indonesia works through strategic partnerships with local NGOs, farmer organisations, national network organizations and private actors.

Sustainable Agricultural Chain Development (SACD) VECO Indonesia supports the development of sustainable agricultural chains at local and national level in which organized family farmers, male and female, successfully influence the trade relationships and benefit through increased income. VECO Indonesia’s programme particularly focuses on the value chain of cashew, cacao, coffee, organic rice and groundnuts in selected geographical areas (see map).
