Designer Adam Zohar We first discovered Adam Zohar during his runway event in April of 2018 during New York Bridal Fashion Week. This fast rising star originally from Israel caught our eye and we’ve wanted to learn more about him ever since.

VRAI Magazine: As a child growing up in Israel, was it always your dream to be a fashion designer and specifically, to specialize in bridal gowns? Adam Zohar: I’m an artist and to be honest, my dream was to be an events planner. The thing that led me to become a fashion designer was that one of my best friends got engaged and I was the one who designed her wedding dress. When one of the fashion designers saw that dress, he told me that this is exactly what I’m suppose to do in my life and here I am today. VRAI: Were there any challenges that you encountered getting into the world of fashion? Adam: The truth is that I didn’t have any. During New York Bridal Fashion Week in October 2016, I had my first fashion show of my very first collection and once it was over, I started to work with all of the best wedding dress boutiques in the US. Along with that, it was clear to me that my standards (and brand) would stand for things such as high quality dresses, creating and designing exclusive fabrics and textures, handmade tailoring, adherence to schedules, working hard, not taking anything for granted, and being available and reachable to every bride. VRAI: Why are you passionate about creating wedding gowns? Adam: As an artist, creating is like the air that I breath. Doing my art every day and making a bride the happiest woman on her special day are the most fulfilling and passionate things that I can wish for myself.

VRAI: When did you create the Adam Zohar label and what sets it apart? What type of bride should look to you for a gown? Adam: The ADAM ZOHAR label was founded on October 2016. What sets me apart is my ability to understand the female body and apply it to our brides. My perfectionism demands that my dresses will be the top of the line because when I’m creating a dress, I’m putting myself in the bride’s position and imagining how would I wish to receive my product. The type of bride should be a fashionista, but at the same time, one who wants the traditional wedding dress. VRAI: Since creating your brand, can you tell us about a few defining moments that stand out in your career? Adam: Every time a bride-to-be says “yes” to the dress and of course the moment that we signed our agreement with our first wedding dress boutique in the US—the moment that I realized that my brand was going to be successful.

VRAI: For the Fall 2020 collection showcased at New York Bridal Fashion Week, can you tell us about the inspiration? Adam: My latest collection is about embracing the female body, loving the dress you are wearing, and feeling like your dream is finally coming true. VRAI: Are there any special details, techniques or anything you want to highlight in this latest collection? Adam: I am keeping my enthusiasm about the mix and match game with the fabrics and innovation of new techniques for applications and a more modern way to work with them. There is a dress for every kind of woman who appreciates the couture work that my studio and I are producing—exceptional works of art. VRAI: What does it mean to you to showcase your brand during New York Bridal Fashion Week? Adam: For me, bridal week is the most important event of the year. This event showcases our hard work in creating a new collection. After a year of work, everything was resurrected. We also meet our buyers and it’s always fun to hear the comments, get reviews and know that you’re part of the new fashion that’s going to be for that year.

VRAI: If a bride-to-be wants to wear an Adam Zohar wedding gown, what’s the process like? How long does it take? Anything she should know about the process of working with you? Adam: The first step is always to follow our calendar and see where we are presenting a Trunk Show. If the bride is lucky she might even be able to meet me. For me, it’s important to meet every bride. To make a dress takes between six to seven months. It is important to know that my dresses require time to sew because they are handmade. The most important thing is to come open minded and to try something you would never pick. Listen to the designer’s advice but also stay in your comfort zone. VRAI: Anything big or exciting coming in 2020 you can tell us about? Adam: We are going to open a shop in Miami. VRAI: When you’re not busy creating beautiful gowns, where are some of your favorite travel destinations to rest and recharge? Adam: Israel my home country. We have one of the most beautiful countries. This is my time to spend with my family. Because I travel a lot, I need time for myself and Israel is the place where I feel at home.
